OOOOOKEY dokey.... i need help w/ wintex... Very Happy

ralphis and toke have helped me quite a bit in the past, so has boingo, so now i figured i shud leave them alone about it and bother the whole ZD community with it instead of them alone. Very Happy

I've made a few maps for that wad thingy thing in the wad editing forum...u know, i forgot exactly what its about - ANYWAY - i cant compile the maps into a wad without the zdoom crashing when i attempt to launch a game with it. i use alot of different wintex versions, and the older ones with deutex compile them (but crash), and the old ones i just copy ann the data from 1 wad, paste it into another, etc etc etc. and yes, i did change all of the different maps to their corresponding entry names (although, i cant figure out how to get the skies in their own maps...rsky1 is the only entry that works)..... any comments? Confused

and dont say "eeew, wad author's gaaaay, wintex suuuuuucks, use deep seaaaaaaa" because im not going to no matter what you say, unless you tell me on here how to compile with it. Confused

You have to use a ZDoom-compatible editor that can compile multiple maps into one wad. The only editors I can think of is Deepsea and ZETH.

If you want to know why it's not working, it's because there is a lump in ZDoom maps called BEHAVIOR. Wintex does not recognize this as a map lump, so therefore it'll copy over any existing BEHAVIOR lumps.

yea, i know..... wintex has bitched about the behavior lump before, so i figured it had something to do with it....

okay, atleast tell me how to OPEN the fucking zdoom wads first.... Confused

i cant select zdoomhexen.prj cuz then it keeps saying to convert the wad to zdiwhack.wad which i already DID obviously, and zdoom wont work because the wad has behavior.

fucking deepsea.... Confused

First, this subject should belong to Wad Editing section.

Second, Wintex is a graphics editor, not a mapping editor. You can't make maps like you do in Wadauthor or Deepsea. They both fuction completely different.

wintex has a built in map editor thingy, looks like crap though.

I wouldn't use wintex any more than just wad file editing, not map editing

deepsea, xwe's internal one and wad author do quite well it seems

Damn it people, i feel like deathz0r!

where in the topic of this thread did i say i used wintex to make maps? i didnt. im talking about map COMPILING. IE= putting the maps together into a single wad with all of THOSE maps in it....

If you have hexen wad, identify it in wintex. Then switch to hexen mode and do all your zdoom map compiling. This is the only method I know of working since zdoom map format is identical to hexen format
