I've seen a few doom videos, and I would have to say this is the best I've seen yet. Nice job.

Hi all, I think it's time to explain some things. My friend Fsn76 made, a few months ago, a frag highlight movie for Doom. Then, [Chaos]Devils made some for the other [Chaos] members. They were really cool.
For you Quake III Arena players, I guess you all know the fabulous videos at www.own-age.com. And I thought : "Hey, why don't we have amazing videos like this for Doom ?"
Then, I started to make mine.

Unlike Fsn, though, I'd not say that it's a good video, there are lots of drawbacks, cameras are poorly used at the beginning, and I guess some of you won't like the music and stuff. I planned to present this here anyway, but Fsn was faster Smile
If I did, I'd have done that with more 'modesty'.
This video is my first try, I'd not say it's a masterpiece, far from it.

Thanks Fsn, anyway Smile
And thanks to all the people who watched it !

@ Tuomio : I'd really like you to tell me what bored you the most in this video, please Smile It will help me for my hypothetic future works.

@ All : If you know about other videos like this, please tell us Smile
Thanks a lot.

And sorry for my sucking english skills.

Edit on the 30th of June, 2007 :
Here is a mirror for Beyond Abilities : http://wtf-1.com/doom_vids/Doom_Beyond_Abilities.zip

Thanks a lot to Rellik. This link should be valid for almost a year from now.

It was a pretty nice video, I like how the music was synced up with the gameplay.

I made a couple of videos during the summer, both of them promos. One was for 100GunsX while the other is for a project I am working on.

That was just some simple ACS coding, it is built into the map.

What program do you use to create your movies btw?

300mb? There had better be a damn good reason why I should even consider wasting my time downloading a 300mb Doom video when I have higher priority things going on (Kubuntu DVD for one).

@ DeathzOr : yeah, I guess that you should download it only if you don't have anything else to do Wink

I used Sony Vegas 5.0.
You can find better videos at www.own-age.com, but they're for Quake III Arena. There, you'll see *really* good videos.

And, of course, I used Fraps to capture movies from ZDaemon itself Wink
With this, you can make a video for any game you want.

How did you get the framerate so good though, i made a video and idk if it was the quality or that i set a low framerate or if my computer is too slow to handle that shit. Idk maybe you would know.

It's easy, record classics .zdo ...

Then use fraps to turn them into AVI files ...

after that, windows movie maker is your friend Wink

Wilou set the resolution in the game 300x200 or 640x480 and recording will be smooth, I see a little pc-lag in the video. And the size is HUGE, maybe you should do something about it

@ Kandy_kid : I think you were already at these low resolutions in your video, but Tuomio is right, doing this will help you raise ( raising ? ) your framerate.
Also, pay attention to Fraps' FPS counter. Mine is 16 during a recording session. Then, my .avi's look rather smooth.

@ Tuomio : About the resolution, at first, I thought about it, but I wanted to avoid those enormous killing messages and annoncements all over the screen. I wanted them to appear, though, but not as big as they are in 640x480 for example.
And yeah, for the size, you are right, it's my main problem.
Fraps creates huge .avi's, because the screenshots it takes are not compressed ( or a little ), and you can have a ratio of 8 to 10 Mb for only a second.
Then, with Vegas, at first, I rendered the video uncompressed, and it was about 2 Gbytes... Then I used XviD MPEG4.
I could have reduced the siez to 270 Mbytes, but the quality would have suffered a lot.
And, nowadays, we have lots of hard drive space, so I decided to keep the quality Smile
FileFront is not bad for hosting, anyway.
