In this topic, we can discuss the WADs we are making and how we are coming along with them. It'd be nice to know what other people are working on, and I guess this board would be perfect for it.

I am working on my first ever WAD, called "timmy.wad". It's a Coop WAD for rougly 2-4 players, and right now it has 12 maps completed, and map13 is the works. It has new sound effects, new music, but I am using mainly Doom II textures. It lacks texture detail, but I'm no artist, so I'm no big fan of textures.

What are you working on right now?

Use with ZDoom 63a (Because ZDaemon doesn't support HudMessage).

Also, I think this would be a really neat thread, but to organize it, there should be some guide lines; like:

TIMMMMEEHHH!

After Zodiac DM, I'm making plans and some draws for a Zombie DM wad. It will be called "Dawn of the Undead" and should be released sometime in summer, I think.

Some info can already be found at Milian's Doom Site

Hahahaha, if I attempted to list every project I have in progress, I would break the forum software.

I'm currently still working on Destination Unknown (Coop maps, 4-6 players). 8 maps so far, working on the ninth.

Heh, same here. I find it easier to list all my projects (read feasible projects that I'm likely to finish one day) on WADs in Progress.

Although sadly not everyone can access the site.

As for multiplayer specific projects, I'm currently working on LavaDM. I haven't really attempted a proper deathmatch mapset before, just individual maps, so I hope my attention span holds. I'm aiming for 5 or 6 maps. The theme is based on a single player map I'm making for NDCP 2.

It's cutting-edge ZDoom for me, a big Hexen project called Serpent: Resurrection. Nowhere near completed of course.

I'd go for the same, though most likely it wont catch many ppls attention anyway. (Unless the ones that are interested of course so here goes....

Project #1:

Unreal Doom Deathmatch Wad.

Progress: Complete resources + 1 Map so far.

Current beta: Click

Progress mapping wise on this wad is slow.
Main reason is because i want to create maps for this that will have an immensely high replay factor so ppl wont get bored soon and since i am a perfectionist i only want to create maps that have a level of gameplay to my liking.
The goal is to try and reach a mapset of 10, maybe 20 good, very good DM maps.

Expected release date: Somewhere at the end of this year.

Project #2:

Demons of Carnage Coop Wad.

Progress: Complete resources + 3,5 map so far.

Current beta: Click

This wad is all about combining Alien vendetta quality maps with the playability and skill level of a 8/16 player coop.
Progress is yet again slow since i have not had time to map in over a year. Next to that i want to make this a full megawad (32 maps) which i know is a hell of a task.
What makes this wad differ from wads like tokecoop for example is that i like to aim for a nice looking map with a high fun factor.
A symmetrical map with 100 cyberdemons is not fun nor pleasing in any way in my honest opinion, therefore i try and set my goal to hard coop maps with anything different but that.

Expected release date: Somewhere at the end of this year.
(I intend to pick up mapping again this summer).

Thats about it. Smile

Exactly, that's what I don't like about WADs such as Coopbuildlm

Coop is about getting through the levels and fighting off all the monsters, not fighting 293558093580 Cyberdemons in one room with unlimited amo. Unlimited ammo takes away the purpose of Doom. If unlimited ammo was a permanent thing in Doom, expect nothing but BFG whoring in DM, camping without even having to move for ammo, and just plain old spamming once you got that weapon you want.

Exactly... I hate unlimited ammo servers... I usually play Plutonia, TNT, or a couple other wads that have limited ammo enabled on _TyServer_ .

I disagree. I don't think unlimited ammo takes away the purpose of Doom. It would take away the purpose of DM or CTF, sure - that's why you don't see CTF or DM servers with unlimited ammo. But not coop. I guess everyone has their preferences - you don't like wads like Coopbuild, fine. With the 293558093580 Cyberdemons, I think you're missing the point. The point of coop play is not to pointlessly slaughter monsters just for the sake for seeing blood. Well-made coop wads don't do that, they actually are fun and have gameplay. Good and fun wads that put you against what you described are as rare as budgerigars that throw grenades.

*off topic bit* Now that respawn works on the zservs try the wads on GSN, it's listed on the thread in zdreview which have unlimited or not. The ones that do have unlimited set simply don't have enough ammo to support more than one player. Watch out for eternall on a Sat. Great wad.

What we really need is a dmflag that gives double ammo like on Nightmare skill, but without the fast and respawning monsters that accompany it.

And one that gives a free chainsaw (like the free shotgun you get with nice weapons on) so you can actually kill monsters if you run out would be good too.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention my WAD has new music. This is what is going to be used on my WAD and what I have so far:

Map01: Map01 of TNT: Evilution
Maps02-07 remain unchanged as of now
Map08: Lava Reef: Act 1 from Sonic and Knuckles
Map09: Hydrocity: Act 2 from Sonic 3 (Jazz Remix)
Map 10: Zelda OOT: Lost Woods
Map11: Doom E1M1
Map12: Doom E2M4
Map13: Rise of the Triad, the medieval song (can be found in Map25 of AV)
Map30: Final Boss from Sonic 3
Map31: Level 17: Watch Your Step (Doom 64)
Title Screen: All-Star Intro from Super Smash Bros. Melee

MIDIs I intend on using
TNT: Map22
Fire Fight: Journey (also Map04 in AV)

Can anyone tell me if this is a good music list or not? Thanks!
