It's a very simple design, mabye it wasen't on purpose. One of my wads had a stair design that people said was stolen from TLDXCTF (or whatever its called) and I never downloaded TLDXCTF. But if it was on purpose, god stealing movies AND maps detail?

Oh big deal. I stealed coffin idea from nutty wad in my smdm.wad. Shark saw it and what? he was not angry at all - nothing special. As the russians says "Be fair and share" Everyone can use any features i designed that will be pleasure to me.

yes, it can be a compliment when other people copy your map features.
but i'd only want someone that i know and that i knew respected my maps taking anything from them - and then i'd want to be asked first.

it's nice to provide inspiration to people but a little courtesy never hurts.

i've run into problems with stuff like this before so i always make sure i add a text file to my works now with a statement of ownership and the 'may not be used without consent' or whatever the hell it is that standard text says.

i try to make my work as original as possible and always get upset if i then find that someone else has already done something similar.
(occasionally it does happen that different creators coming from different directions do end up making things that are remarkably similar)
so i try to steer away from anything i've seen elsewhere. or if i really feel an idea is worth pursuing then i make sure i do it biggest and best.

simply copying other people's work just makes both wads feel cheaper.

I am always stealing from other wadfiles. I am not that creative you know. I looked at the waterfall, and I have got to hand it to you. Good job! You could also look at it from a different point of view. I mean, you could also be glad people like your creation. That's the reason why you made it did not you?

liking a WAD is one thing - there are ways to show appreciation (like playing it ). that is what people make maps for.

taking stuff from other's work is just lazy. i'm not all that skilled graphically - but does that mean i go ripping other people's textures?

Same as shark i always trying to be different and original. (Except that accident with the coffin ). U maybe already noticed that in my maps. I got some fresh ideas for dm with scriptiing and coop with more scripting scripting. BTW. do any1 know, does all scripts, wich working in sp-mode work same in multiplayer?

No, a lot of scripts will break in multiplayer because quite a few functions do not work in there.

The only time I've stolen from maps is the Zdaemon logo.
