When we started the Intermediate tourneys we did have plans to introduce one for new players. It took quite a while for the Int tourneys to get popular, so I don't know what the interest would be like for a novice tourney. It might be time to try one, D6 m1 is a great map for new players to learn on, I might run one on there alongside the Pro tourney.

Well, when i started Tourneys back in Feb, the standard of the Inter tourney was still very high in my opinion, and it still is now. Though i can't see what running a 'noob tourney' would prove. Because they won't really gain much from it, they may think they are good if they win etc.
When starting a new game, Doom in this instance. One should practise and practise until one is good enough for a 'competitive' role.

I've been playing doom for some year and a half now. I practice everyday and play regurarly. Still I don't feel like taking part in inter tourney. There are too many good players, so I am sure I would have no chance there... At this point I would like to try some beginners tourney, so I can see if I am ready to play someone out. Hm. Maybe next inter tourney I will try it, but I am not convinced jet. If there will be a beginners tourney soon, than I will wait for it...Bye.

I think a beginners tourney would be a great idea, Gothic Hell and Tom have emphasised that. Some new players or indeed "low" skilled players are a little scared to enter the INT tournament just because of the high standard you get there now. I think it would be great to see new players get a foot on the tourney ladder without feeling intimidated. Though this is not the path i took, i feel that everyone should have a choice, some new players will still join the INT tourney regradless of a noob tourney, so its not like youll get an uneven balance,i say try it out.

I decided to not start any new tourneys till 1.07 comes out, for obvious reasons really. When it does we'll do a novice tourney at the same time as the Pro and on the same map, maybe try an 8 player first? Players will be checked for aliases and level of skill the same as the Int.

I think this is a great idea Smile
I've not really been playing zdaemon for long at all, so I'm sure I wouldn't stand a chance in the inter tourney Razz
