Hey people,

We as the Red Devils have made 28 maps for Zdaemon coop. It is a mix of Monster Massacre and finding your way out to the next map. Ammo is added, so there is no need to use unlimited ammo. Except the new Lost Soul Launcher. The Lost Soul Launcher does not require ammo.

Here are some screenshots:

Only the 2nd screenshot and the 6th one from the end look nice. The rest looks as uninspired and crappy as a 1996 wad.

Weird texture combinations, crappy layouts, some huge and empty locations, tiled step textures next to a bloodfall in the 5th screenshot from the end, etc. etc.

Unimpressive to say the least.

Re-Reviewed, (Because i missed 6 maps)

Playability: 5/5
Theme: 3/5 (it would have been 2/5 if you didnt make the Soul Launcher)
Music: 4/5
Textures: 5/5
Layout: 3/5 (it was choppy for the first few maps, then with time it became more descriptive)
Special Effects: 5/5

Overall Percentage: 25/30 = 83.3%

EDIT: Upon looking into the last 6 maps, my review has changed from 23/30 points to 25/30 points.

Your maps are astounding near the end of the wad.

Like most wads, the very first set of maps are always bugged. Not a surprise. Amelioration is the key Wink. Therefor extra points were given.

Congrats, above 80%. Your super awsome.

Well one of the songs was made by me, still don't know which map it is, I cannot listen to midi on my computer - XPs support for it is broken, and nothing I have done has fixed it's weird errors.

I would have made more music but I did not have time due to exams and the wad release date. You should also have noted Ronald, that those screenshots were taken in alpha stage, and do not represent the quality of the final wad. If I may recommend, you should replace all the screenshots with new ones, highlighting the best parts of your maps.

And was the author not Clan [THE]? Make yourself great, and you shall be humbled. The additional credits may fair better if it states what each person did, thus knowing how involved each person was in the wad.

Not really a bad wad in my perspective, but I just wish you guys wouldve and couldve detailed it just a little bit more :p Some maps have some/little detail that make it real unrealistic. But otherwise, I believe the playability is excellent. Get a 8+ coop going and itll be better (Although I dont play coop that much, I used to and I know it should be good.) I just wish the soul launcher wasnt there/cyberdemons were changed because when the cyberdemon shoots, he shoots out souls. Nothing I can really point out here because Decorate doesnt fully work for zdaemon, and you can only dehack it on zdaemon. But for the creativity I believe its worth playing and watching, although I wish the detailing was more better with the aligning textures and whatnot but it shouldnt effect the only thing it was made for: Gameplay Wink

If I were to rate it Id have to give it a 8 / 10:

5/5 on Gameplay
3/5 on Details

But Im sure no one cares about detail :p Anyways good work. I hope next time you guys make something like this itll be a lot more thorough and longer Smile.

~Whopper

Note: Did you guys use mapinfo? Because I hope you didnt do what AV did by just creating several different ending screens. It wouldve been a lot easier and better for everyone. Cool

No, we did not use MAPINFO. What would have been easier?

Much easier lol. You can add the maps name (both in the automap and the exit), new skies, music that isnt renamed to something like D_Runnin (aka D2M1), change ending messages, etc. It wouldve been a whole lot easier on you guys :p. Go look at some wads like cybercrime in xwe and look at what they did in mapinfo.

Yeh, I know how the MAPINFO lump works, but we did not need it. Smile Doing it this way is just as easy for me. Smile

What would have looked better in your opinion if you do not mind me asking? I mean, during play you are not able to see anything of it.

he means the WAD itself.

less entries = tidier
and you'd have a smaller filesize.

obviously there's zero difference when you're playing the thing - unless you decided to recolour the text or use a different font.

Exactly, it could have made the wad a whole lot smaller/easier to fix if a problem occured in one map. Nothing really about gameplay, except if you wanted a sky or music without renaming anything, and what cybershark said about the text too.
