Nocturnal 40 - 10 Darcy

The result wasnt justified really, as he had a higher ping.

I was pinging 50-60 he was 80-90.

Brackets updated.

2 days left to play first round matches, GaryZZ look at the FFA Tourney details for an alternative email address for Tigerson.

Both of his opponants had trouble arranging a match as he didn't reply to their emails, he failed to turn up for the FFA tourney he entered (not the first time he has been a no show, though normally it's because he gets banned from zdaemon for other stuff). In the Pro when they did finally arrange the match and started playing, all went well till he started losing by a few frags then he refused to respawn..... things went from bad to worse with him insulting his opponant. When he is mature enough to play in a tournament I will let him re enter, until then i would rather let someone else have the slot.

This was his last chance, I let him enter these as usually he is a no show from being banned for other stuff and so can't turn up for matches.

I've witnessed the excruciatingly slow (or no) respawn trick myself too and he's not the only one who does it. There was an idea by Rat some time ago to put some sort of time limit for the time you remain dead (or don't move while alive); when you exceed it, you automatically become a spectator. The major benefit of such a policy is that it would not allow people to block 1-on-1 servers. However, we could apply this limit to tourney servers too; ie., when this happens, the game is over and the "spectator" loses.

Would you guys/gals be interested in such a feature for tourneys? or is it too "far out" ?

Actually that would be great, very often a match is arranged and the people go in only to have someone else join and refuse to leave. Often if I'm there I can get them to rejoin, but I can't spectate every match. Also the don't move while alive would be good, we had a situation in the euro ctf tourney where a player timed out, the other team scored 2 flags before it was noticed, he then left the server with the time out message, but the damage was done and it wasn't discovered how long it took him to time out until the demo was watched.

[added] I've also seen people who have been left mid game and wandered off while waiting for someone else to join, and forgotton they were there. Sometimes for up to 4 hours the server is blocked by a dead body. With the new ban system they can be removed that way, but it still needs someone who can ban to be aware that the server is blocked.
