but ctf hm... it will be empty somehow , my vote goes for 4v4 , and i suggest if someone will not be able to show up , team leadder can take another player in ,ofcourse if thet player is not already in some other team.

4vs4 is very dumb, I´ll vote for 3vs3 without doubt.
4vs4 is about meat game, without strategy, without brain, sorry i dont want to play dumb game, kill everything what is moving, no sorry.
3vs3 is the best ctf game, believe me. Players must play altogether like team ! Hard to imagine 4vs4 voters he ?
I know exist some huge maps, but 3vs3 in the Something epic ? are you all right ?
When we have played (czech republic vs Euro), it was 4vs4 in the beggining, and it was meat ! no ctf, but only meat about killing. After that 2 players left and CTF was great !

IMO 4v4 can work just as well as 3v3, it's a matter of who the players are. Given that this is an official tourney, it should attract the more serious players who don't see CTF as a team DM (therefore put frags before everything else), and if it did go to 4v4 I'm pretty sure everyone will play CTF properly, even if they're playing just for fun. I've had many a good game on the Quakeworld 4v4 server where the quality of tactics and teamwork has been really good. Too many players will spoil the broth I agree, but IMO that comes at 5 or 6 a side, not 4.

Anyway, /me votes for 4v4 (providing it doesn't make it too hard to arrange matches, which will be the biggest weakness in it's case against 3v3)

I'm going to go with 3 v 3 for this one, 4 v 4 is fun and it does introduce more tactical play ie some teams would have 2 on defence others would have 2 runners etc. But it does mean more people. As we are going to have a reserve the teams will be 4 people. This is to cover in case 1 person can't make a game, or someone disconnects in the middle of a match or for any reason really. You will be able to swop a player during the game as long as you do it fast and don't hold the game up.

I'm working out 2 map sets so we can do a poll for which set will be used. There will be 4 maps per set, with one of the maps also being the chosen sudden death map in case of a tie.

You can start working out your teams, who will be the captain and a name for your team. There will only be 8 slots. Anyone not in a team can go in a players pool, so if a team loses a member for any reason they can choose one from the player pool.

I'll try and get a poll up for the maps asap. Registration will open on the 7th Jan.
