Hi all,

I wanted to take a moment to share the news that one of our fellow doomers has sadly passed away. Zena began playing ZDaemon around 2004, which is when we met, as two crazy 11 year old kids. She was an avid gamer and she loved playing doom, she loved the ZD community, and even though she has long since stopped being a part of it, we spoke about it often.

She would always ask me about certain people she knew. She always asked me about what I was up to in the community too. She genuinely cared for people here. She became my best friend outside of doom and I’d like to share a little piece I wrote for her. She was an amazing friend.

“ I am in shock and completely broken that my best friend is gone. I don’t know how to process something like this. I don’t know that I ever will.

Sally saved my life and I loved her very much. I know she loved me too because we told each other all the time. She was a true friend, and the only person that ever really truly understood me.

Sally was the smartest, funniest, strongest, most exceptional human being to walk the planet. We spent hundreds of hours on the phone, laughing and crying and plotting on how we were going to take over the world together.

She was always there for her friends. Sally selflessly gave up her own time to help me try to solve all my ridiculous life conundrums.

She pushed me to be a better person because she knew I had it in me. She knew even when I didn’t. I would not be alive today if it wasn’t for her.

Memorializing what she meant to me in one post would be impossible. I don’t have the words to describe it.

All that I can say right now is I will forever cherish every moment I spent with her. I hope I can live up to the Sally standard and make you proud.
