If the currently playing music in the map is in the midi/mus format changing the music with ACS results in all players experiencing a sudden lag spike (usually with the duration of about 0.5 to 1 second). The game basically freezes for this duration. Apart from being an annoyance this occasionally leads to deaths.

Switching TO midi while music in a different format is currently playing seems to show variable results:
- If using MIDI Mapper or Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth there is a lag that's usually shorter than the one mentioned above.
- If using Timidity++ there is also sometimes a (usually shorter) lag but often no lag at all.

There seems to be no difference if the file is .mid or .mus.

If neither the from/to music is in MIDI format there's no lag. We tested directly with mp3 and ogg files and FCT shop servers also don't seem to have this problem using other file formats (IT module, XM module and S3M module).

The behavior seems to be the same online and offline.

Including a test wad with a map and scripts created by Flambeau (Thanks for the that and the help with testing!):
You will see a message what file format was the music switched to after you press a switch - 1st: midi, 2nd: ogg, 3rd: mp3.

For me it happens also with ZDoom 2.8.1 / GZDoom 3.3.2 and using MIDI Mapper / Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth.
I would say here it's less than 0.5 seconds.

It does not happen with SB Audigy MIDI.

Seems it's related to midiOutOpen.
