Is anyone interested in doing some Heretic co-op mapping?

because I have some big things in the works here, people.

My vision is to have a solid set of six episodes utilizing ZD's Heretic cooperative monster mash capacity.

I am literally doing it, bitches. Literally. Only two maps until I finish project: aardvark and that will feature a complete update, retooling, and rethinkery of old hehretic maps.

Anyone is welcome to start mapping. Use the vanilla textures or find new ones. In the end I'll compile all the resources into one wad. In the mean time I will throw up some old screenshots and add new ones as time goes on.

Cool. Btw I wouldn't bother adding any ammo to the maps the only way to make people play co-op these days is with infinite ammo. But other than that, no restrictions basically. Add health, artifacts, armor, monsters. If you need a texture pack, let me know I can toss you whatever I'm working with.

Two great mappers working together on a new wad for Heretic? Better keep a close watch to this thread Heretic fans! Because I'm pretty sure right now this wad will not let you down in any way when it comes out.

I hope you guys will team up and make a good Doom wad after this one is done as well. I would really like that!

Yeah, I had "Spawn Monsters" toggled off for testing purposes, that's why you don't see any Razz .

Not bad at all. I assume you notice that iron liches will fly now, especially once they start getting hit by projectiles. Wink

I'm no Heretic expert but I'd gladly make a map. I have very little to no knowledge of Heretic so if I make a map, someone would have to put the items in it. Smile

Gewei: that's more than ok, that's actually being proactive. Smile

Oxyde: check your PMs in a bit and I'll toss you the resources. Don't worry about placing ammunition, people seem to enjoy coop better with infinite supply. But artifacts are very welcome. Many of the items in Heretic go directly to inventory... So

quartz flask = medkit
tome of power = alternate fire all weapons. can be dropped by disciple of d'sparil, very slight chance!
time bomb = new, not very strong but can gib golems and gargoyles.
shadow sphere = invisibility, also iron lich tornados can't find you and their ice attacks are useless against you. red axes from knights will give you no damage and pass through you.
morph ovum = chicken enemies. doesn't work on iron lich, d'sparil, d'sparil riding chaos serpent, or maulotaur.
torch = light goggles, but it flickers slightly.
wings of wrath = flight
chaos device = teleport to start, also gives you immunity to a firemace's huge ball created by tome of power
mystic urn = restore health to 100. can be dropped by maulotaur.
ring of invulnerability = god mode 30 seconds

Also note the armor is different:
silver shield = 100 armor 50% damage reduction
enchanted shield = 200 armor 75% damage reduction

The enemies are mostly straightforward and shoot projectiles... Ghost enemies are immune to firemace, phoenix rod fireballs (but not the flamethrower) and 2/3 of crossbow damage.

The weapons are a lot of fun and more equal than Doom's arsenal. The tome of power versions are not overpowered at all and quite fun to experiment with.
