How would we play ZDaemon 1.09.01 if when launched, it forces us to download 1.10 beta?

The two following servers where the official games will be played, are hosted with 1.09 binaries

[FATE] Chicago | Duel Challenge #2 | Jacob's Ladder - zds://108.174.49.98:9001
[FATE] Chicago | Duel Challenge #1 | Jacob's Ladder - zds://108.174.49.98:9006

Meaning that even if you update to 1.10 in your zdaemon folder you should have a folder named "VER_10900"
When you attempt to join a 1.09 server, zdaemon will automatically use the zdaemon.exe from that folder so you don't have to do anything.

On another note:

Does not seem like a legitimate entry for me. Deffinetely an alias.
I'm not trying to bring you down or tell you how to run your tournament but I'm pretty sure that everyone who is active in the competetive scene and has run tournaments will tell you the same thing.
Aliasers are a burden to deal with, it's hard to contact them and not only that. You don't know who they are and they may go around sharing their account so other's can play for them.
Also I, from the bottom of my heart, hope that this "White_Tiger" dude does't turn out to be the almighty Kal_Foxis

Anyways, looking forward to all matches and good luck everyone!

You can use the 1.10 client to connect to 1.09 servers and will have a 1.09 experience. You will not be able to use 1.10 functions such as high fps rates.

I assure you with 100% certainty that White_Tiger is not an alias, nor is he a competitive ZDOOM player, nor is he KalFoxis.

This tournament is/was open to all.

Exclamation Please try to idle on ZD IRC if you are playing in this tournament. Don't forget that in signing up, you committed to making yourself available. Please contact your opponent and fulfill your match!

Reck, FSN76 is looking for you.

Necro_Kid, Asgar is looking for you.

Sorry to put this into this thread, but 2 things strikes me:

• You propose the wads directly from the server. It increases a whole the bandwidth used for the server, and thus, giving players inside the server more ping, making them harder to hit them. Also players take a longer moment to download the wads (especially as they are unsurprisingly big)
You should in this case redirect them into a true HTTP server in order not to interfere with players within the server.

• The zvox and custom sounds may be put into optionnal.

Chowww,

In response to A: The WADS are not being served to players by the ZD server. Rather, the ZD server is telling the ZD client to pull the WAD from a true HTTP server @ db4d.org. Therefore, there are no bandwidth issues there.

In response to B: The VOX and SOUNDS are a part of the deal. I realize that it is possible to configure the server so that these are optional. However, I created and implemented these WADs in part for this tourney and wanted all players to have the same in game experience. The only WAD that is a bit chunky is the new beta of the DVOX WAD, which uses 16 bit 44.1 khz audio samples.

Hope that helps.

By looking at the link of the download, and the server IP, I'm not really sure it's 100% true.

Only 1 server does not have the correct settings then.

Hope that I help too Smile

Ah, yes you are correct! One server had WAD transfer enabled - the international bridge server. I access this server via web-based admin and could not simply copy over the config file.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention... WAD transfer is now disabled.

It is Saturday and we're nearing the end of round 1. Only 2 matches have been reported at this point, with 4 left outstanding:

El_Flemas v. chimila
Necro_kid v. Asgar
OurHero v. Madgunner
ALpha_ v. kmfaiyaz

If the number of outstanding matches is significant tomorrow, round 2 will be paused until more matches are complete.

There was a report that Asgar won vs. Necro Kid but no demo was submitted. Do either of you have a recording of this match?
