Some of you may remember this guy, some of you have no idea who this is. He certainly wasn't the winner of any popularity or skill contests here on zdaemon. Nonetheless, this is one of the players responsible for keeping me playing this game, and making me love it all the more. We were active for awhile between 2006 and 2008. During that time, playing this game was his passion. In the last few years he has played very little, but our friendship continued outside it. Through our years of dooming together, we built a great friendship outside of it as well. I even made the trip down to Texas from Oregon to visit him for a time, to get to know him better as a friend. My buddy Morty.

My friend, my dooming buddy has died. He was found at 2am this morning, died of a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head, in his truck parked outside a movie theatre in Houston, Texas.

I am still quite shocked by this, and I can't believe he is gone. It's very hard not to have regret, and to blame yourself for not doing something about it, or trying harder to see it and prevent it somehow, but I know these things are useless.

For those of you that pray, please do so tonight for Morty. If not, please send good and positive thoughts to his friends, and his family. May we all be able to grieve and get through this.

Love you, Brother. You will be missed, more than you'll ever know.

I used to play coop with Mortality when I first started Zdaemon and talked with him fairly often, back in the old DBzone servers. This is a real shock, i'm really saddened by this. I don't really know what to say ... it just really puts life in perspective i guess.

Now I remember Mortality, 5 maybe 6 years ago when I first started to play ZDaemon, I wanted to join [WOLF] so bad. And even though Roscoe whooped me around and I was always the one to walk away and say "I'm worthless, I suck blah blah Sad

" Mortality would be the one to tell me it's not all about winning, that [WOLF] was a laid back clan made for just people who wanna be with friends. He actually made me want to go back and try out for [WOLF] about 3 more times until I finally gave up, I kinda wish I had more courage to continue on and didn't have to have left the wrong conclusions, but I know I'll miss him for sure.

Shit, saw mortality few times pre-2010 in servers, sometimes ctf, ffa, everything really. Such a shame he is gone. R.I.P Sad

Members of this community may have differences from time-to-time. But we always have one thing in common and that is a love for Doom; and it's never nice to hear of something bad happening to any one of us.

Used to talk to Morty a fair bit back in the day. He was a great guy. This is very sad news, and Im very sorry to hear it. My condolences to the family.
