I am not into Deathmatch at all, but those screenshots look amazingly good! Surprised

Perhaps it is also worth mentioning that the author of this wad (phineas) submitted this wad to ZdReview and would like to receive feedback on his creations! You can find the ZDReview thread here.

What does that comment even apply to? The screenies? The WAD? The settings? The banner? Krawa himself?

Yeah, they do. Means nothing, I'm afraid.

Instagib solves the lack of weapons, and the overabundance of powerups, but it does nothing for the layouts and confusing texturing Sad
I'll probably just have an early night on Zaturday.

The wad ROFL. The maps are great designed and it would be fun playing this wad.

Great designed? You mean they look nice in places? Because they are not well designed for gameplay. Your own maps show that you have a much better idea about such things.

Let's be clear here, using instagib is not some magic bullet which will make any piece of crap playable. There are '94 WADs which would have played better than this. I mean no offense to the author here! In fact, he agreed with what Op-Cow and I had to say about his maps - that most of them could have been much better. So I find it mind-boggling that Krawa would then choose to ignore all that and run them anyway.

Instead of running instagib on maps that were never intended for it, I'd like to see some maps be created expressly for it. There'd be no campable spawns, no dead map areas where a BFG or sphere would have been, just some decent gameplay. Bascially it'd be a bunch of FFA maps that required no items, just player starts. Should be pretty easy, right?

Krawa actually PM'ed me that evening and told me how surprised he was how well this ZDS worked. Players enjoyed this one a lot and the server was active and crowded for hours. I refreshed at around midnight and it was still packed.
So even though it might not look as if the design was good gameplay wise it still worked well for instagib TDM after all.

The screenies from last week's Euro games seem to back this up, but I suspect this was more luck than judgement really. I do respect that Krawa was trying to highlight a new set of maps to encourage players and mappers alike, but it should be noted that US-side was complete and utter fail. I think I was playing some ZDUCTF, and I never saw another soul in that server all night.

the fault was not the wad in that case but rather the lack of kickstarting i'd suppose.

It's certainly harder to get a TDM going, and every other week has me cyberbullying people into joining Laughing

Arrrgh! Now I want to make a dedicated instagib wad!

The wad definitely wasn't there, but I'd hate to discourage the dude from making more. It's better than my first several wads anyways. Hopefully we'll see a more polished wad comming soon.

It did seem that Phineas was quite receptive to the comments, and it definitely didn't sound like this was the last we'd be seeing from him.

And I wasn't suggesting that any one person should drop everything to make an Instagibpack, rather that it could be a cool community thing to do. Either as a speedmap challenge, or give a couple of weeks max (which would give more people chance to participate).
