|
|
This suggestion mainly applies to Coop mode with possible extention to Survival. It probably won't be good for other team modes.
Basically I suggest an option to use players' skin colors for radar dots instead of fixed green/yellow/red color according to player's health. In such a mode as Coop in almost any given situation I couldn't care less how many hit points my teammate has. I only care where my buddies are located.
Unless you have default green skin color you're most likely going to have an unique color on any averagely-populated server. That means it would be pretty easy to spot you on the radar for anyone who checked and memorized what color you are. Buddies could stick together following each other and having more fun shooting stuff and figuring out map designs.
Currently whenever I play a big-sized map and I see someone on radar I have to press TAB to check this person's color and see if it's one of my buddies there.
I do realize that Radar was probably intended for deeper teamwork in TDM / CTF modes. I'm just saying it could have a nice use in Coop too at the same time. And I'm only asking an option; not a complete change. Thank you for your time. |

The suggestion isn't bad, however, what is going to ensure the player dots will always be visible? What if someone uses black? Will the dot be visible? |

Good point, EQ.
Maybe a white outline around the dot can help as long as it's even possible to draw a tiny outline. I can't think of such a situation where a player with white skin and white outline cannot be visible on radar when it's on top of some white wall; I don't think that's possible in almost any situation.
Besides, it would also remind you that those are skin colors, not health indicators. When you play different team gamemodes with different options might end up erroneously thinking everyone are healthy in a coop server when everyone simply have default green skin color.
On the other hand instead of outlines it could maybe force radar to have more "solid" background (less alpha transparency or whatever it is) but that's a whole new request then. |

I'm inclined to say no. The team radar is for teamwork; and you *are* supposed to worry about your teammates health. |

Yeah, not in Coop though; and I did state this is mainly a Coop-related request. But as for all other teamplay modes, yes, you are absolutely correct.
Well, I'm out of points for now. If noone's gonna bring up new ones then all I can say is "feel free to move to rejected". Thank you, anyway. |
