The old timers might remember back on #41 when JCTF had its debut. That session was pretty successful and the maps even got a mid-week follow-up soon after. Smile Since then, it has gotten playtime here and there. The maps roll along with a smooth style and the people I've played with have been pretty pleased when Jad hosted his project on the Outpost servers. The layouts are a little spaced out, so we can all indulge in the fruits of jumbo CTF.

We're going to give this a replay because I feel this pack still has a little bit of that new car small left in it. There's no engraved rule saying we can't revisit some of the more enjoyable moments of the past. So here we go! Ten jiving maps with some jolts of Jad's jazz. Cool And miniguns.

    Game Mode: CTF
    WADs: jctf3r6e1
    minigun
    weedvox
    variants

    Maps: 10 (01-10)
    DMFLAGS: 8672260 / 131073
    Players: 12 (autobalancing + 4 spec slots)
    Teams: 2
    Timelimit: 9 mins
    Flags: 5
    Skill: 4 - Nightmare
    Voting: Kick
No team damage. A little OVERTIME! could be nice.

    Date: Saturday 5th December 2009
Time: 7:30pm UK Time / 9:00 pm EST
    Locations: L@P/XXX & Unfy/3-BET/Canadian Bacon

Well, assuming:
  • my apartment building doesn't blow up
  • I don't start working at a new job
  • I don't die of marijuana overdose
  • my friend doesn't have a bonfire this weekend
  • I'm awake
  • the internet doesn't get shut off
  • the electric doesn't get shut off
  • I get evicted

... I'll be there!

Lol, with all those factors to consider there's no realistic chance of seeing you there is there EQ?

And good choice Cuppy! With one thing and another I was feeling particularly underenthused about posting anything this week, but this has definitely been something I wanted to revisit for a while! Seems like we have some fun additional PWADs in there too Wink

wait... what?

Well I'm kinda disappointed in myself for having nothing new to add here, but maybe next year.

Also I'll be gone most of Saturday, keep the server warm if I show up late.

MAP01: Definitely no.
MAP02: No....
MAP03: Yes.
MAP04: Yes.
MAP05: Yes.
MAP06: Definitely no.
MAP07: Definitely no.
MAP08: Definitely no.
MAP09: Yes.
MAP10: Definitely no.

See above, that's how I feel about the maps. The maps I mentioned as "Definitely no" were a pain to navigate in, so they're definitely not my cup of tea. MAP02 could work perhaps, not sure. The other were good and fast.

The European session lasted for about 1,5 rotation. Not bad if I say so myself. Smile I know I enjoyed. Well done TheCupboard for picking this wad again and of course Jad for making the maps. Smile

Pretty Awesome.

Most of the maps are really fun (especially the hellish map) some others are kind of average. Nice session, would play again.

They were all very good maps, but we had a pretty low turnout for the US server. I think it had something do with the fact that I had to manually install the wad files to get in. Anyways, the maps were pretty fun and incredible, although a bit rough about the edges. Favorite map of the pack was the middle eastern town. I loved all the places I could sneak around, so it was easy getting in, but hard getting out. My least favorite map, and this is by a great longshot, was the minigun-dominant map with the flags behind the cage walls. That map did nothing for me.

So yeah, was a good sesh. We tied nearly every game, even the 1-on-1 Cupboard and I played to end the session. :p

Crying or Very sad

But thanks for getting the server - we'd have had none if not for you. But you forgot the flaglimit! But that was ok, the timelimit was low enough and it shook things up nicely. Think we got 10-3'd on the last game I played though Laughing

Map01 can be a bit gruelling, yes.
Map02 is awesome.
Map06, heh yeah, this one is V A S T
Maps07 & 08? You're insane!
Map10 is a pain initially, I hadn't played it for ages and was lost to start with. But I soon got back into it.

Really a shame that Jad couldn't make it. We were going pretty solid most of the time (modulating between 3 vs 3 and 4 vs 4). I'd be willing to hop on the Outpost server again sometime this week or next weekend too. Very Happy

There was just a lot of cool territory to cover on the way to each base. The maps look a little bare at times, but that wasn't a big problem for me. I wasn't sure how that Assassins' Creed map was going to work out (having never played on it seriously before). I was pleasantly surprised though. The rooftop jumping and lobbing rockets down into the streets was so good.

As it has been pointed out, Saturday was one of the most balanced nights we have had for ZDS CTF. Even with no flag limit, I think we only broke the five flag barrier a half dozen of times. Like Quakey said, that was a really close 1 vs 1 match, too.

"You are tied for the weed!"

The session also ended on a positive note for me because I realized an aliased Qwaszx had been there the whole time. I kept noticing all this chat about Mexicans but it took a while to make the connection who was who! Laughing
