The option to turn off translucent projectiles in it's current state is really tedious to use. If you turn them off in game they revert back to normal after quitting. If you enter the cmd in the cfg, it'll be there for the first time you join a server, then delete itself after leaving. Apparently, the only work around as of now is to set your cfg to a read only file.

I'd accept it as being a bug if we claimed that all CVARs are persistent; noone has ever made that claim, so that's not a bug. I'll put it in the feature requests though (and accept it). In the meantime, why don't you try something like:

bind k r_trawtrans 0
That should remove the "tediousness" factor.
