Oceanic clan scene is dead? I thought it had never been born yet.

To vapid or someone who mentioned me earlier:

Clans tried to get me but to me you guys are all sluts. Making clans every month, swapping around members warring only certain clans or not at all, driving away members... I don't want to be a part of that, I still feel betrayed by the previous clans I was in. I took a chance because everyone was pressuring me to join a clan and I found a nice one called WOLF - which is a good clan with the right idea.

That's nice, and how many wars have you been apart of since joining WOLF?

enough wars, we've even got one coming up. I just don't bother telling you guys because you're not interested in my activities.

You guys don't want to join wolf so then there's piss all oceanic members so why bother participating in oceanic wars if ya got no one willing or not enough players for even a scrim.

Also czar and andymun - why don't you just get a joint forum account? Everytime one of you posts the other one posts right after and much of the content is trash.

Bitch!

Oh, and Dre being one of the best players?

I definetely was one of the best players. Now? Not so much for several reasons - there's the often-mentioned packet loss (heh! I know you guys are sick of hearing it but that is the main reason), recently discovered ping spiking, my mouse breaking at the tail end of my peak - never got used to the new one, not playing for 6-12 months and then very infrequently since. I'll admit my aim and reflexes have dimished too as a result of all the above.

But I do agree with vapid on most of the points as to why the clans dont really work - and added to that, there has always been quite a skill difference between the clans which adds to the reluctance of clans to play each other - most of the time the outcome is fairly certain so the clan who knows they'll lose won't play. But I don't see much evidence of clans challenging other clans - either it's done privately or i'm not there when it happens?

But on a more individual level, the whole community is much less active than it used to be...people getting older, having more study/work commitments, losing interest, players go missing..etc. If you look at the size of the community it is not big enough to sustain clans bigger than 3 people (in my opinion) - and as most clan games (if not all) are never bigger than 3v3 anyway, then you dont need more people.

Now, with a 3 player clan, you might argue 'but, what if we're not all on at once?' - if you cant orgnaise yourselves to be there at the same time, then dont form a clan together...or if someone is inactive, eject them from your clan and recruit someone else. Just suggestions off the top of my head. Ultimately though, I think the clan issue isnt the biggest one in oceania, it's the lack of individuals in the community - so perhaps seeking out new people to get into zd is the best solution - but to be honest I can't think of an effective way to do this.

Welll i can say that eV is still going and is active, we've had two tournaments well one in progress now..

2-3 members aren't in #oceania but we are still active. A clan doesn't mean waring each other well it has some input of what clan's do.

I think some overseas players, even with high ping, can outplay certain players in our community, not mentioning any names. That being said, I would certainly pick a few overseas players over many of the australians.

If we get enough interest, I will run a CTF tournament, the first one we had was successful back in the day

Successful meaning we got enough members of the community playing, and the games were played pretty quickly.
