This was one of the first wads requested (forgive me for not running it sooner!), so it's about time this gets its turn. To add to the fun, silvertear has even released a whole new version for us to play on!

Game Mode: CTF
Wad: Legendary CTF
Maps: 14 (1-14)
DMFLAGS: 283780 / 655360
Players: 16
Date: Saturday, February 9th, 2008
Time: 7:30pm UK Time / 9:00 pm EST
Locations: FasthostsUK, Red Nexus, Wolf

Join #zdplayers before the game starts and get some people in on it!

See you there!

ZOMG NEW VARZUN!
...oh wait, that's not such a big deal for one of Silvertear's projects Razz

should maybe have been coop this week but i couldn't be arsed and Boner wanted to run this. it's been on my list to run for a looooong time. there's just always been other stuff which seemed more fitting at the time.

been playing a fair bit of it this week both on ZD and ST and really enjoying it despite my reservations about many of the maps. they're architecturally stunning with solid layouts but the maps just feel kinda soulless and can be difficult to get bearings in with all those acres of grey. but that's maybe just me and i still foresee great things for Saturday night! Very Happy

I think it may be worth pointing out that the zip file is corrupt

It's quite fine, my friend. Quite fine indeed.

Here's another copy for kicks, though: http://doom.iri5.net/wads/legendary-33.zip

(If that one doesn't work, free some disk space or get a new archiver.)

Epic win. \o/

Only problem I see is not enough players. Most maps are like for 8 on 8 and some are good for 4 on 4 so you know/ Confused Very Happy

Good, I am not alone on this feeling. When I looked through the maps, I thought they were fucking huge and needed a minimum of 5v5 to play well.

I must say I was really rather surprised to see such a conservative cap on how many players the servers would handle. Wouldn't it make more sense to bump them up to 8v8? This is an RFA pack, you know.

I originally had it at 16, but I decided to change it for reasons I can't remember.

This is a little heads up to all server hosts: settings on the servers should be exactly what they are in this thread. Nothing different. Not unless the original post is changed. If they are any different, you should not be surprised to find your server missing from the hosts list. Thanks.

Fair enough. I suppose we do host them as a contribution though. I could always not host one, doesn't bother me. What would Europe do then, with no server? What they do every fucking weekend, they don't play.

Yes Whymes, you proved to be a great partner! Here is my thoughts, 8 on 8 always spells epic fail. Some of silvertear's maps we're just perfect but some were like Mad . But you know, as usual it was fun. I even played on the Euro side (heh). There, it was mostly 2 on 2 so yeah, fail. Too bad in RN I eventually got tired of it so I just stormed off frustrated and noob'd. GG's and fun nevertheless Very Happy

Yeah, this session was a blast, then it got pretty lame Confused

There was a lot of variety, I had maps where I would own, then maps where I would fail epically.

GGs as always, see yall next week Very Happy

That ctf rocked. I had the most fun I've had in a LONG time in that map with the jumps and people collided mid air and fell into deep space. Was that suppose to be a "Asteroid" with two bases?

Well all I can say is you owe me new underwear, I was about pissing myself.

I think the only thing I didn't like about this session is that I was on the losing side every time except for the last game (the one with the marble, rocks, and lava). But that was such an epic game in itself and well worth the time spent losing. :P

Some of the maps are hit-and-miss, either being too large-scale, or too crowded in high traffic areas, or have too much SSG for anyone's own good, but Silvertear's maps have their own class of greatness. A legendary wad of epic proportions. One of the best examples of NS CTF.
