I saw the topic about TF2 and I feel i must share this mod. If you were or are a fan of QWTF or TFC you must download this HL2 mod NOW!

http://www.fortress-forever.com

I don't hate TF2 but i personally don't like the fact that the medic can't go rogue and there are no grenades Shocked

I didn't like the grenades. It really made a huge gap between players. The ones who play hours and hours to learn all the tricks and the ones who just want some fun.

Absolutely. Because without grenades players who play for hours and learn the game won't have an advantage.

Games should be just as easy to learn how to play them when you havent played them that much than it is when you have played a lot.

Otherwise you get a game where servers have atleast one person that always wins, and the rest of the people dont even get a chance to learn.

I've heard of this, and it's good for those that want to remain more "true" to the original.

But to be honest and fair, TF2 is extremely well polished(as it should be, considering how long it's been).

The balance between classes makes for incredibly intuitive teamplay gaming...forcing people to utilise the classes the way they were "intended", hence having to work together.

The medic may not be able to go rogue for instance, but he gets assists on any kill a person he's "attached to" while healing, not to mention can go "Uber" after having dealt enough healing (Which grants about 10 seconds of invulernability to himself and whoever he's attached to with his healing gun).
Ontop of that his healing is significant enough to make or break a team's offensive...such as a skilled Medic/Heavy combo.
It's not uncommon, and it's actually normal to see a Medic being in first place for scores in most games.

Team Fortress 2 simply puts more emphasis on the word "team" as it's predecessor did.
Sure there will always be Johnny Lowlife that plays 24/7 and just "pwns" us all, but in general, the game is designed for people to use the classes a specific way, thus forcing the teamplay aspect.

I had more fun with the original TF and Clanning than with most anything else I've ever done with gaming, so I can sympathize for those that love TF classic so much.

But until you've put a good 10 hours or so into TF2, gotten the hang of the classes and feel for the maps(Not to mention some good teammates on voice), I'd say it's not fair to pass judgement because you don't know what you're missing Wink

haha, that's true...not very effective against better teams, but it can work and is fun.
