This thread exists to determine what people would want in such a tournament. Read the first post.

If you build it, they will come.

Glad to hear it. But that's not why this thread was created. It was created to inquire what maps and team sizes would be good for a tourney of Deathball, not merely whether or not to have one.

I don't know the maps well enough to decide that, but 3v3 or 4v4 should be the team sizes. Anything higher than that and it becomes too hard to get players on at the same time. With that in mind, smaller maps would probably be better.

with the scoring system still having a tiny margin of unpredictability - still working to cut that out Wink - teams would have to agree (on signup) to possible rematches in the case of 'lost balls'.

Just make sure that the bug isn't there and we can work something out.
Basic rules should be:
3 on 3 with 10 minute timelimit.

'make sure the bug isn't there'?
lol what, you think we leave it in just to make games a bit more random? until we get some true one-flag support then we're pretty much stuck with it.

...although Megadog did have something i still mean to look at...

Well you said it yourself- it's a potentially game ruining bug.

It's potentially game-ruining, yes, but it is actually avoidable. The 20-tic limit means that a player who runs around on the floor of the pit after falling in will be okay; if you survive long enough to get to the bottom, then you will survive long enough to actually score. Barring extreme pings, this generally works; I haven't lost more than two or three balls in a year or two. It doesn't take too much practice.

yeah, i've been dancing around on the pit floors a bit more and haven't had any problems - don't believe there were any lost balls in that session you played thru Stereo.

but of course players shouldn't have to do this which is why - as i hinted above - i was planning steps to remedy it. basically by adding some thrust scripts to what happens when you hit the floor. i'd already used them in the office map which teleports you to a score/death room as obviously the players have no momentum when they enter it. i'll be copying something like it over into all the other maps i suspect.
