Euro Intermediate Tourney October is now open for registration, Click here to register.

Rules

- You must reply to the verification E-Mail sent to you or your place will be re-opened for someone else. This is the first stage in making sure you turn up for your match. During the registration period players will be screened by the admins to ensure only players up to and including intermediate level enter.

- If you fail to turn up for your game you will be banned from the current Tourney and next months Tourney. Only sign up if you're sure you can play, we will not tolerate no-shows.

- You must contact your opponent A.s.a.p after you find out who they are and arrange a time to play. If you miss your match and the other player turns up, the above rule applies. If neither player turns up, the above rule also applies.

- Post your scores in the forum or E-Mail them to the Tournament moderator.

- Be sure to post in the forums at least once every round. If your match doesn't get played for whatever reason, then I have no record of what extent both of you tried to contact the other. The result will be a double DQ.

- It is highly recommended that you include a messenger service as well as email. They're free to get, and they will increase your chances of playing your matches greatly.

- You may only join one tournament at a time. This will ensure there are more slots open for other players.

Hi, the brackets are done on the 1st, totally random so I have no control over who your opponant will be. As soon as the brackets are set i'll post here as well as on the news, so people know where to look.

Spectators are allowed, in fact it's best to have at least one person spectating tourney matches, which isn't usually a problem as while you are in there practising etc before your match you'll get to meet most of your opponants, so when they see you in there, they'll go and watch anyway. If there are no spectators just get a screenshot at the end of the game, just in case theres any dispute over the score.

The Euro Tournament server is being hosted by L@P, so have a look on there, it's titled as tournament server #1. We may get another one up before the first round starts.

It's up to the players to contact their opponants, though I will chase people if someone is having a hard time getting a reply from someone. Posting on the forum to arrange a match as well as another form of contact is good as a forum post is absolute proof that you have tried to contact that person.

You don't have to record a demo, that's up to you although Rellik would love demos of the tourney matches for his deathmatch news site.

I can't think of anything else. I'll check your stats etc in a little while and send you an email Smile

[Added] Can you let me know what your previous nick was when you played here before?

The brackets will be set tomorrow morning at about this time, I'll post links here as well as in the news (in the news once all the brackets are set).

To record a demo, highlight the server in the launcher, click on demos at the top, click record demo, a box will pop up so you can name it what ever you want, click ok then you will be taken into the server. If you name it somthing like uncon v whoever tourney D5, then when you have hundreds of demos, you'll remember what, against who, and which wad to select for playback.

The recorded demo is saved in your main zdaemon directory with a .zdo extension, to watch it open the launcher, click demos, play demo, select the demo you want to watch, then where it says extra wad add which wad it was recorded on, otherwise it'll look really weird.

Have a play around today Smile

Just wanted to clarify the actual playing of games as this is my first tourney.

When a date/time as been arranged with an opponent, is it just a case of going to the L@P tournament server at the given time/date and playing the game?

What happens if there are conflicting games (i.e. other matches arranged for the same date and time)? Do you just form an orderly queue and wait to play your game?

Do the matches have to be played on the L@P server?

Apologies if these seem like stupid questions but I don't want to do/not do something silly as I'm a first timer.

Thanks in advance.

Don't worry about that - there's quite a few first-timers play in these tourneys. I'm only a second-timer...

L@P is the main tourney server, but I think CodeImp is running a server too, and I don't think it matters where you play as long as both of you agree (some people have ping trouble on various servers depending on where they live). Last time there was a server on Cygnus Court as well but I don't know if that one's running this time.

If someone's already playing, we tend to spectate until they're finished, or if they agree to end their game early (if it's a friendly) so the tourney match can take place. (there's no time limit, first to 40 frags wins)

Unconcious not that I know of, have a search in the help forum.

Lord_Rahl np with the questions Smile

Yep, when you've arranged a time and date just be there for it. If someone else is playing just wait, you need the game to be at the start for your round, ie platforms raised all ammo and health there.

CodeImp has very kindly put a server up for us so we now have two, one on L@P one on CodeImps servers, so you can choose where you would like to play (the DM flags need changing on Codes server though, I'll look in a min to see what's different) so don't use it yet.

Once the brackets are done, which I can't do until the site is fixed you'll see who you are playing, it's good to add them to your buddies list and post here as well as sending an email to arrange a match. Chances are you'll run into them while practising in the tourney server anyway so you will get to meet each other before your match, and probably have a few games before the actual tourney game. Practice in the server as much as you like. If there is an actual tourney game on (this is to everyone) please don't type, it's really distracting to some people.
