Hi,
Just making a generic topic, bassicaly when 4K is becoming standard and we will most likely see that 8K will step in in the future. There will be a need for HiDPI support in:
1) Zlauncher
2) ZDaemon client itself
ZLauncher
You could say that system can do some scaling but its usually buggy. So I tried Win10 and i keep getting this issue when servers display like icons.
(The image has been resized and compressed)
The binary icons are of course not scalable, we need some vertex based one's (something I can try to make). And the text is always blury.
ZDaemon client
First issue:
The UI such as console, "t" text messages, crosshair, radar and every HUD_Messages are not scaled making them so tiny that I couldnt even take proper screenshot of it.
Second issue:
Is the performace, because single-core-CPU based render isnt suitable for that.
Just writing it as a topic to think about. You can use low resolutions but they aren't native and looks weird and sometimes not fullscreen at those monitors. I have a still CRT but nobody understands why
The screenshot shows odd behaviour of ZLauncher. I could only reproduce it when the native resolution of the monitor was changed to a very small value (e.g. from 4K to 640x480).
Since 1.10.21 (2022-07-11) there is Borderless Fullscreen for the client (using primary monitor). So the native resolution does not change there.
ZLauncher also has some improvements for "override high dpi scaling behaviour".
Text size (and font) can be adjusted.
On the client console, text messages, crosshair, radar, PiP, scoreboard, sitrep, etc. can be scaled.
