Hello,
So quite many of you may know how some maps are huuuge and it is quite heavy for the servers to change all of the monsters in the map at the beginning of the round for all of the clients etc etc.
So the idea came just now: I was playing in FCT Neptune server (Map72 Okuplok). When the map started, the server lagged a lot because it tried to send the monsters + all scripts + all items and what not to 10+ clients. This forced me to spawn to the server without even touching any keys (thanks to bad packets). The server kicked me immediately (TURBO), and I lost all my items + map was skipped + everyone was sad (and I got the blame since according to the game, I joined)
So my request is:
Do not allow joining in the first 1-2 frames, or if the server is still sending a lot of packets (and no one has joined yet). I don't know much about the details how to make such a thing/fix/feature/something, but the simplest would be to just prevent joining in the first 10 seconds if MAP## == MAP72.
I think it is quite common, even in smaller maps, that the server can go haywire if you join as fast as you can. |
