Family ID # property is an integer. Monsters with the same Family ID # cannot hurt each other. Kinda like DONTHURTSPECIES, except that this works among different actors.

I would love to see it implemented as this could probably be used to completely get rid of monster infighting by assigning the same family ID to all monster types.

Sr69Mm-jC, as a DMFLAG or... Question

IMO a feature that shouldn't be removed, a +1 that makes DooM what it is. I mean not much games left out there have the intelligence to start an infight when a monster accidentally hits another one. Even being of the same family ah, would it affect the case of Baron's fighting themselves if they get hit by a barrel explosion caused by another devilish goat? nopes.

...completely get rid of monsters infighting sounds bad to me.

I never said I'd go ahead and just create a dumb patch that just loads over vanilla doom2. I never stated that I don't like it in doom either; of course most of wads just wouldn't feel right without monster infight. But please don't forget that there are many different wads out there - some have all monsters replaced with something else, and some wads even contain new soft-coded gamemodes. Now those could possibly benefit from this feature. Idk, just thinking aloud here.

I hate monster infighting, so I'm gonna tlak to Romero and Raphael and hopefully we can get this included in Fairdoom.

.Lristrân, we're talking about something like a weapon mod. It could be loaded on some servers, or included in some WADs, but would not be a global change to the game Wink

Possible to implement, something I'm definitely not against.
But the question is, how should it be implemented when it comes to the syntax?

Do we go with something closer to MBF21's; infighting group.
Or do we rather want to go with something more ZDaemon specific and call it Family ID?
