I think in Survival time join limit makes sense when, for example, 2 out of 20 players are left alive. That's often a sign that the game is about to restart pretty soon, so you don't want new people to join at that point and prolong it.

But if you join a server 20 minutes into the map and there are still 15 out of 20 players alive, I don't think you will ruin anyone's enjoyment by joining the game. So maybe there is no need for the time join limit in that case.

So basically my idea is to have a "smart" time join limit that wouldn't just block joining after a certain amount of time passes, but also would look at the percentage of currently alive players. And it would let you in if 50% are still alive (this percentage could be configurable).

Its funny, Zandronum survival mode I feel is inferior to ZDaemon because of this feature. In Zand, you often sit in a survival server for 20 minutes waiting for the last guy to die or beat the map.... Sooooooo boooooorrrriiiiinnngg..... Thankfully ZD gets it right and you can just join in right away
