Hi!
I experienced something weird when starting my server. Maxclients and maxplayers were set to 16, and when setting the following, the maxclient gets modified to 17 after starting my server:
set minplayers 4
set removebotswhenhumans 1
Is this intentional, or some kind of bug? |

It's not an "issue". Think about it for a while and you'll get it. |

It's done for server admins who are aren't paying attention to realize the following potential issue:
Set maxclients/maxplayers to 8
Set removebotxwhenhumans 1
Set minplayers 8
Watch 8 bots run around the server without any players ever being able to join because your server is full.
Whether or not this is intentional when (minplayers < maxclients) has yet to be determined. |

According to this, at least one player always has to play in order for these bots to spawn.
But why not lower the value of the minplayers cvar instead of increasing the client limit? If it is known to be a faulty setup, lowering the bot number seems to be a less radical step. Server admins care more for the client slots than for some filler bots. |

If correctly configured (as you have above), the maxclients should not be altered. This was unintentional in the scenario above, and will be patched for 1.10.
As far as the logic for raising maxclients instead of lowering minplayers... Got me. |

In which way does it matter if maxclients goes up or minplayers goes down? do we really have to waste time pondering useless questions? |
