Hi. Recently got a hankering for some multi-player, updated to the latest version, and am unable to log in to the master.

I don't believe I have previously attempted to connect from this ip, no idea why it won't connect. It is not blocked in windows firewall. Perhaps I have been caught behind a range of blocked ips, or perhaps there is some other problem I am unaware of. IDE does not see the master either.

I can confirm that you're not caught in any ban or banned.

Are you using the latest version of IDE?

Have you attempted to connect using the ZLauncher at all?

I have tried both. Zlauncher times out at connect and informs me it cannot connect to the master. I thought maybe I had forgotten my password, and attempting to create a new account has the same effect.

It's really quite baffling.

All my doom stuff was on a different drive the last time I played zdaemon, and I recently ditched my extra partitions and amalgamated everything onto one drive.

Could there be some thing in documents or appdata or the registry that isn't immediately obvious as being related to zdaemon, that may be trying to look at a different drive? I did find a registry entry from the installer but I don't think it has any practical effect on actually running the game.

I'd really like to play and this is really baffling.

Is there some way one could get a response from the master just through their browser or somesuch, just to see if it can be reached at all or whether it's a more specific software issue?

Are you able to access the experience site?
http://stats.zdaemon.org/

The registry entry won't have any effect.

What operating system are you running?

Just incase, have you attempted to disable the firewall temporarily to see if that makes a difference?

I'm running win7 32 bit, and disabling the firewall has no effect.

I can't presently access the stats, but downforeveryone says it's doiwn for everyone at the moment.

That is temporary, it also just affects the stats site.

It shouldn't prevent anyone from logging in.

Do you have any spare machines there that you can use to see whether you're able to connect from there?

In IDE, what is the master server address set to?

IDe has master.zdaemon.org:15300. Also when I upgraded zdaemon I gave it a fresh directory, so nothing should be interfering with it.

It's really baffling and there are a handful of other game launches that also won't work, though most things do.

I recently lost the contents of system32/drivers/etc/ including my hosts file, but none of that seems to have had any effect after replaing them. It makes no sense.

You say there's a few other game launchers that don't work as well?

Can we narrow down to what does & does not work in more detail?

Ok, I guess the only other launcher that doesn't work is San Andreas Multiplayer. It's quite popular and I know it is on, but the serverlist is blank and when I add a server ip to favorites manually it shows as empty and does not connect. No idea if this problem and my Zdaemon problem are related, but it's a thought.

It's probably also worth noting that IDE doesn't see odamex or zandorum servers either.

Whatever could be causing these problems, I'm starting to feel like it may be time for a fresh os install.
