Worst explained to me the difficulties with implementing this, and I could understand his point. Server needs to keep track of how long each message has been onscreen, etc.
And yet, if ST can do it, it can't exactly be something to relegate to the X-files, can it? Is it any more tricky than following the history of light specials?
I'm not asking for all the flashy functions of HUDmessages but, without some simple way to prevent printed messages going to all players, then the print functions are severely crippled.
I'd be pretty overjoyed if PRINT/PRINTBOLD could at least achieve some seperation |

Not really sure what you mean here. Print and PrintBold have always worked correctly as of 1.09 (Print is "local", PrintBold is "public"). The problem with using them is that they are always echoed to the console, only stay up for three seconds, and are mostly immovable. While they have been immensely useful to us, they are not suitable for constantly displaying information on screen. |

Ugh, ok. Just another one of those things that we're supposed to realise without anyone ever telling us?
I know it's not anybody's fault, but it really pisses me off that we have to guess at so much of Zdaemon's advanced functionality. Y'know, one day something will be impossible - and so, not even worth attempting - and then the next it'll suddenly, sureptitiously be working |

Code: | 17. Improved the HudMessage/HudMessageBold functions to properly handle
any specified font, added the log option, added the fade in/out type
and made them work properly in online mode. |
Fixed for b28. Thread can be moved now. |
