What is this?

Regeneration patch is a wad that comes as an alternative to vampire mode DMFLAG.

So how does it work?

Pretty much like it does in modern shooters. If you get hurt you need to take no further damage for several seconds in order to start regenerating. Getting hurt again will stop regeneration (and/or reset no-damage-taken timer). It's actually rather neat - especially when loaded along with such wads as coopbuildlm and other ones which contain lots of monsters and little-to-no healing items.

Features:

- This mechanic encourages you to back off from the fight for a short while when you're hurt. Vampire mode on the other hand encourages you to run into monsters to heal up.
- It won't save you in tricky situations when you get damaged often enough for regeneration not to even kick in.
- Unlike vampire mode, you're not stuck at low health when there are no monsters around.
- Easy to use: simply add this to PWAD list. No further actions required as long as you're okay with default regeneration settings (you probably should be okay anyway).
- The regeneration is customizeable through RCON (no-damage-taken time, regen speed, etc). Changes are permament and apply immediately. The further instructions are in the txt file.

We got this wad added to horde v1.2 (old version) server - thanks to Krawa. This was done to see how regeneration works in real action.

And I gotta say it works really nice.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for server hosts to check out this patch.
If you want to see it in real action too you can check it here: zds://85.214.149.120:10702

Oh, nice! I thought you'd forgotten about this Smile

Don't have to check it out to know it'll be awesome if it does everything you say. Hopefully Runeld will pick it up soon!

Haven't forgotten about it. In fact, I made it a few weeks ago or so; I've only been waiting for SetActorProperty(player, APROP_HEALTH) to work properly in C/S. Now it works just fine so I released it.
