17. Made the client automatically hide the "press space to join" message
when taking screenshots. This removes the need for the "cl_showpressuse"
cvar.

It's good for screenshots but you can no longer capture a video without this message and spectated player name.

sure can bring that back.
what parts of the HUD/messages can't be disabled apart from the join message and the own player name on bottom when spectating?
i guess ideally you want to be able to have a fully clean view withuot any text or HUD features.

None, I guess.
"togglemessages" + "sizeup" + "cl_showpressuse 0" = clean view.
Recording a clean-view video right now with 10808 using only those 3 commands.

here's a workaround for b23;

http://wadhost.fathax.com/files/blankfnt.zip

Quote:
blankfnt.wad
----------------
A modified ZDoom Console Font, which has all normal characters replaced with blank, fully transparent characters.
This is meant as an workaround for ZDaemon 1.09 b23; It allows hiding the player name and "Press <use> to join"
messages while spectating and recording demos with video capturing software.

This wad should be set as optional on servers that hosts it, as only the recording person needs it, and this saves other
players from console font confusion.

To hide the playername and the join message go to: Menu->Options->Display Options->Fonts
Change "Normal Messages" to "Classic Console Font"
Change "Large Messages" to "Classic Console Font"

To see them again, change them to anything else than "Classic Console Font"

This can also be done using aliases and a bind:

alias hidejoin "set fnt_small_s $fopt_small; fopt_small 0; set fnt_large_s $fopt_large; fopt_large 0; rebind showjoin"
alias showjoin "fopt_small $fnt_small_s; fopt_large $fnt_large_s; rebind hidejoin"
bind j hidejoin

To see the console, change the "Console" to anything else than "Classic Console Font"
