Time to play some Star Trek mixed with DooM2!
This is a very ambitious partial conversion that deserves a few stars for effort, although I sense more passion than skill in the making. The maps are square and dull; the weapons are based on the same laser pistol design and are hard to tell apart; and the author isn't sure whether the wad is supposed to be serious or jokey, and there's a cartoonish look to everything. The last few levels are almost identical. I'm sure the shotgun sound comes from Star Wars. Taken from http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=10605
Game Mode: COOP
WADs: ncc1701 nodeadplayers nohoming
Maps: 01-13
DMFLAGS: 344100 / 1179714
Players: 14 + 2 spec slots
Skill: 3 // Ultra-Violence.
Voting: reset, map (I hope we will not stuck)
Date: Saturday 4th June 2011
Time: 7:30 pm BST / 9:00 pm EST
Locations: [XXX] / Dwango United NJ

Resistance? Well, that'd just be plain futile!
Eh, wrong series I guess
I've taken a wee glimpse at this before and it's certainly something a bit different. The characters look a bit Blake Stone iirc?
And holy shit, #196 already?! That must mean there's only like a month left until ZDS #200!!
It's kinda a big deal |

There has been a long-standing tradition of pushing the boat out a bit more than usual on any sort of ZDS birthday/anniversary.
Previous examples including:
#10: Barbapapa's CTF - had never been run in the US before
#50 - Vexation 3way TDM - new twist on a classic & we played the railgun maps too!
#52 (1year old) - The History of Fruit - Cupboard's original Heretic co-op server up on a platter
#100 - tinyHUGE - the debut of Prawnald's loony project ('nuff said?)
#150 - CupCTF - first (and only?) hosting of this excellent pack
So yeah, we had some pretty exciting stuff in the past. Not that it isn't still exciting most weeks, but there were some great debuts of some classy new works. And Ronald maps too x_x
But #200? #200 is not only set to be jumping on the night, but it's going to be blowing away ZD players EVERYWHERE.
There's a return to the original ZDS format with a bunch of brand new maps that are being made solely for this event by my dedicated team of mappers. And that's certainly not the only original part of this session |

I think that the occurance of Raider posting here is special enough. Should have waited those 4 weeks for the action though. ;-o |

I was told that #200 was a cross between [LA] Lava World and DBzone with team damage |

Yeah, all that and with EXP enabled too!
Star Trek Doom wasn't the worst thing ever, but it did suffer from being quite samey in places and some of the teleporting was annoying. Some fun gfx and sounds to be sure, but what really set this apart on the evening was the amount of Trekkie geeks we had in the server, and the number of jokes and aliases going around. Worth the price of admission on its own! |

A tad too copy+past-ish in the later maps, but the Trekkie theme made for an interesting adventure. The holodeck virtual reality parts were clever a bit. Overall, the design could've been better executed and the wad suffered from a number of amateurish choices. |
