Had some great duels on this one back when [XXX] had an internal tourney some time back. I guess with this and Mano1on1 then September has become XXX month here! What's next? An official Snakes tourney?! |

well, august was titan month, with map01 and foxtrot running parallelly. so i guess we're doing themes subconsciously. :)
a snakes tourney will come and it will be as unescapable as a storm on the plains of mexico. *hums the terminator theme* |

Gyross 50 - 46 Sniper
GG, I really enjoyed it. Rushy style, strong ssg on both sides. But the ending was just too brutal, I don't blame you if you're pissed. |

a cruel endgame for sniper, he was in a close lead, then gyross spree'd him on the worst spawns i've seen in a while :) |

Irritating yes, but if I was in Gyrossman's position I wouldnt be complaining. That's the only thing keeping me sane right now |

haha! well, we had smaller attendance this month, but one could possibly draw different correlations for why it was played so fast, right? :)
anyways, congrats to gyross and also to devi for her first finals. |

(no, pummelsaw, you won't escape my criticism)
So I played or watched quite a few matches on this and I never saw anyone use the fast chainsaw. Why? Because you don't have time to do so. It's a close-range weapon, just switching to it takes a good while and you don't walk with chainsaw around the map all the time, trying to dodge your opponent's precise SSG shots. And, god, you even have to go collect it (to a very uncomfortable place specifically on this map, I must say), it's not in your inventory.
Also note that it's not really an "instant one-hit kill", In my attempts to use it in practise games, I had to cut into the poor opponent for a small bit of time, rather than just touching him with this "l33t weapon" and letting him die in a fast, painless way.
This weapon would be good in FFA/CTF or a newschool tourney with the instant weapon switching option, but putting it on OS 1on1 was a fail IMHO.
Nice idea nonetheless, keep them coming! |

thanks for the feedback, but it's mostly reiterating issues we are already aware of. :)
as for that 1-touch kill inconsistency: basic chainsaw damage ranges from 2 to 20 per attack, that's a pretty wide range. the mean values should prevail with more attacks, but that short touch simply might not be enough to deal 100% damage. i consider that a good thing, means you can't instakill let's say an armoured opponent. on the other hand consistent sawing can shred a cyberdemon in a second or two, so... work for your kills. :P
finding a map with sensibly positioned saw might be a worse problem, cause it has been THE garbage item for 16 years. using it as a default weapon is a drastic change, trying to control spawns might actually be a disadvantage. i'm afraid it'd be a mistake - bringing spawn situations farther from q3a and closer to skulltag. *shrug* |
