|

Hi!
I´m making a "standard" female doom marine skin. The basic ideas are:
* The overall size of the female must be THE SAME as the male one. (In that way, we won't be invaded with n00bs using the female skin only because is "smaller" or "harder to see" ). The idea is that the skin should have the same height and width as the male marine.
* It should be as similar as possible as the original marine.
Well... that is. I have this for the moment.
WALKING FRAMES, DONE
I'm posting this here in case anyone wants to work on this too. Criticism is welcome also.
Just before anyone says anything: No, the Crash skin is not a good female skin.
Anyone interested just send me a PM or download the original package here
http://shinobi.cl.googlepages.com/base_weaponless.zip (the original marine skin, but without the assault rifle)
http://shinobi.cl.googlepages.com/Vistasplayer.xls (spreadsheet with the marine animation frames list. Useful if you get confused by the sprites names)
I use GIMP to edit this stuff.[/img]

Well, the idea is to make a thinner and curvier marine skin. maybe if i add a pony tail?? I dont think long hair coming from under the helmet would look good. |

The Skulltag one is pretty much a normal Marine with a visible female face, long brown hair. It's as large as the marine to prevent it being abused. |

Sadly, it is smaller than the regular marine.
It has only a width of (aprox) 81% compared to the regular marine.
Even if it were 90%, is still a competitive advantage. |

I think Shinobi is looking for an amazon woman.
Shinobi, the only thing I can think of is to use the normal body of a marine, but with a blonde chick's head. Just like earlier stated, Samus in Doom would be ballin. |

Overall looks pretty good, but is missing that something that makes it look female imo...

Give it a try? I think it could actually work |

There's this one thing I have but it compiles both of your previous issues: It's too thin and too small. :/
( Cheers to Lazureus for this skin ! ) |

The differences you want to see here should be so subtle, that you don't knowingly notice it. We're talking a size difference of a few pixels.
The only other visible changes would be wider hips (or a thinner waist), less muscular arms (but not necessarily smaller), and possibly a female head to make it perfectly clear you have a female marine here. And I'm talking about differences in terms of only a few pixels.
Too many people make the mistake of overdoing it. Pretty much every female skin posted in this thread is a good example of how not to make a female marine skin. The overall size is WAY too small. If you place a man and woman side-by-side, is the difference really going to be that dramatic? A man is more muscular. A woman is a tiny bit shorter. A woman also has a different body curvature. That's all you should consider when making a female marine, because in real life when a man and woman are both wearing the same uniform, especially with the same helmet, you're likely never going to know the difference!
Also, boobs? Nah, forget it, the armor is going to cover them up. |

I have to agree with EQ.
There isn't anything really all that masculine about the player sprites. If Adrian Carmack never drew doomguy's face for the statusbar, I think it would be hard to determine one way or another if the player's marine was actually male or female. What can you look at really? The arms? Every other part of the body is covered by bulky armor. Granted, the player's sounds are masculine, but the sprite itself is semi-ambiguous in regards to gender. |

Then it is settled, make the the face in the status bar a woman and replace the sounds with annoying bitchy screams |

You know... I actually made this as well. I submitted it a long time ago to the ZD admins and wanted to make it a standard option for the next ZD, but they opted to omit it. They thought it worked well though from what they saw.
Seeing as though nothing has been done with the one I created, I'll give you what I have so far. I will PM you a link if you are interested. |
