Should be no surprise to anyone that it's CTF this week. The all-important question is just what could we be running? Well I like to keep things varied but then I don't want to scare people off with unheard of maps every single week, so I try to flitter between lesser known maps and some which are slightly more established. Last time around we did Legendary which had previously been short on players and servers, so this time it's the better known CrazyCTF for our weekend workout. Incidentally, as a result of the Legendary sesh it looks one of those maps may well be used in the upcoming ECDL season Cool

Looking back, I was amazed to see that Crazy has only been run once on ZDS - on the very first of Bones' sessions in fact. And that was all the way back in August 2007! Surprised

For those who need an introduction to the pack then it was mostly a Tennie and Spacepirate co-production - with guest spots by Izm, TUD, Mephisto, KillingBlair and Nestea. It's got a huge mix of maps which take turns being simple, frustrating, vast, astonishingly 3D, or several of the above at the same time. I think I got a good selection of them picked out here Wink

    Game Mode: CTF
    WADs: zdcctfmpc
    cc_terrain
    monster_skins_team
    tourettesvox1

    Maps: 16 (02,04,06,08,11,13,15-18,20,23,25,26,29,30)
    DMFLAGS: 279684 / 1
    Players: 12 (autobalancing)
    Teams: 2
    Timelimit: 9 mins
    Flags: 5
    Skill: 4 - Nightmare
    Voting: Kick / Map
    No teamdamage or overtime

    Date: Saturday 22nd May 2010
Time: 7:30pm UK Time / 9:00 pm EST
    Locations: [XXX]

I think we're kinda screwed for US servers, so maybe we'll have to just head to Rampage and go with whatever maplist and settings they have?

10 was almost in but I was trying to keep the maplist to a minimum as there's only so many that will get played through in a session. 16 I did think I'd included, so thanks for the post-check!

Heh, I was spot-on with the original maplist I guess, because I was all done after 15 maps. It was only Blair's 'In The Mixer' that I missed! Smile

Team numbers were proving constantly annoying and the session did suffer a little from lack of US server - some people did indeed go to Rampage, but most just stuck it out on XXX. Of course when the US sessions are made up of 66% Euro players then of course it's not such a problem for them Laughing

But yeah, lotta really great games in there. There weren't many where one team got a landslide victory and most ran on to the timelimit.

A lot of fun 2b sure, but what annoyed me to the point of frustration were those prickheads which entered the server and blindly started to play with the team color they still had configured from their last game of CTF, whenever that may have been.

This way, I several times experienced the case where I passed out in the same moment a PH (see above) entered, and -due to the forced spectator status after death- couldn´t rejoin my team due to player numbers, though the other team would have offered more than enough space for another one or two flag fighters ... *censored*, *censored* and *censored* >:/

Also no thanx to ppl who demand "Teams!" while being equally numbered Rolling Eyes

GGS otherwise Smile

I got the chance to play a few maps I had never seen before. The vox was damn entertaining. It is truly a godsend. Otherwise, this week's session was pretty relaxing. I still love that Plutonia-style castle map with the invisibility spheres.

Did I mention how much I love the vox?

You know that vox is by Shoes, right? Very Happy

Sorry to hear about your pains Dunk! Yeah the server settings were slightly off - I think Krawa must've left the deathlimit at 1 after the last FFA or something? It was supposed to be team balancing too, but he said he had that on.

Ugh yeah they're always a pain because you keep stopping to check when someone does say that. I blame the scoreboard for not making it clear enough who's idle! So anyone got any thoughts on how that could be made more transparent?

Yeah, same here ... I was particularly fascinated by this "Liquid" Map (and the 3D Bridge, of course) ^^
