Although I haven't played it on windows 7 I'm almost certain that it should work. |

Windows XP Mode for Windows 7 will help ZDaemon to run under W7 properly. It's free and is great for all sorts of applications that work beter under XP, including DoomBuilder 1.x and similar applications. |

This is what I use currently...
It loads in fullscreen looking fine and feeling fine. However if you alt-tab it screws with the colors. There is one mode which is unplayable and the colors are very funky. Then there is another mode which is messed up a bit but playable but also feels not as responsive IMO. Playing windowed sucks because I have to run super high resolution which lags the game quite a bit.
Edit: I don't even think you need the Vista SP2 compatibility mode checked. I just got bored trying different combinations. |

Right click on zdaemon.exe then -> properties at the bottom of the options, then -> select compatibility up top and voila! |

Yep that is how I got ZD working within Windows 7, but like Fast, if you ALT-TAB even once, the colors will be screwed until you close it out and reopen... Actually though, the only thing I had to check was the 256 colors and got the same result |

the upcoming 1.08.09 release will fix those color palette fuckups.
you will be able to play in fullscreen or tab out without any problems. |

Thanks!
Was it something in Zdaemon that was rubbing DirectX/video card drivers the wrong way? |

I recently bought a new laptop having Windows 7 as operating system. I haven't experienced any problems this far, except for getting used to this new keyboard. |

This same issue applies to Starcraft as well when running in Windows 7 To fix this temporarily, kill explorer.exe through the task manager, then you can even alt tab back and forth into Zdaemon without it messing with the color. When your done with the game, simply use task manager or command prompt to restart explorer.exe |

Fastidious' potential fix didn't work here. (Windows 7 Full Edition x64) |

Yeah I have windows 7 pro 64x...And when I go full screen, it will do one of two things. The colors will go all distorted, or ZDaemon will lock up my computer. It's only ZDaemon that locks up my computer while in full screen. Windowed mode it works fine.
I wish I would've read this topic before switching to 7. |

I've just switched to 7, dunno what to make of it so far, it runs fine on my new comp but it's a pain in the ass to perform some pretty simple tasks. I'm hoping when i get round to reinstalling ZD that i wont have any issues coz it's been a while since I've had a chance to play!!! Good to hear there's a fix for this coming up soon!!! |

I certainly think it should work on 7. I've been playing ZDaemon since my Windows 98 Second Edition days. |
