So it's been a year already, huh? Congrats to Mortal and especially turSKA, as he had an insane run on classic maps. And lol @ being in top5 with only three tournaments played. Very Happy

actually, this is a good idea, master. we meant to do something like this, but the combination of forgetfulness, laziness and a hectic new year is to be blamed for the absence of some sort of (un)official annual recognition. certainly not the tourney admins themselves! :))

anyone even glimpsing last year's results can see the dominance of mortal. he was the only one to participate in ALL the tourneys and got almost twice as many points as anyone else. mortal proved he's able to cope with a new setting in an unparalleled manner. just throw him in a map and he'll perform exceptionally. he reigned on all the funky NS biz, with the exception of some rather surprising 1frag losses to his bro, and a finals loss to gyross in the boo GS. the other NS grandslam he won with patience and ease. the OS tourneys weren't as one sided, but mortal still won the OS ladder anyways. he won half of the tourneys, especially the less traditional or open ssg-oriented maps. he only found defeats on the most heavily grinded maps, where everyone trained night and day.

then there's turska, who was able to train himself into exceptional shape on the most traditional OS maps and got the highest effectivity ratio (yay stats!). winning both judas23_ and d5m1 grandslams netted him a BIG FAT cash of points and a spot in top5, even though he participated in only one other tourney. and he still made finals in map03, too. that's one loss in 12 games. impressive.

welkin had a larger presence in the NS tourneys, and some very close final victories over his brother helped him claim an overall 2nd place, by ONE point in front of gyross. his OS performance varied greatly map from map, but one win and one runner-up pos show he wasn't a pure NS specialist.

gyross' participation wasn't a given, but when he played, he usually performed great and reached late parts of the tourneys. when he crashed out early, it was usually to later finalists, which happened in both OS grandslams, btw. :) from only 3 NS starts, he managed to win the big one - boo GS, denting the belgian hegemony in a painful spot. he was a (semi)finals staple in OS tourneys, although under a runner-up curse. especially his unfortunate map03 forfeit is a big shame, but he managed to break the spell in september on fuloser (after lucking out in round1, that is ;)).

titan is a walking collection of labels - 'the OS guy', because he's avoiding mouselook even while playing NS maps. 'the nervewreck', because time after time he lost matches in the endplay, even while leading considerably halfway through. and of course the tongue in cheek title of 'mortalbeater', eliminating the belgian monster in both OS grandslams. his d5m1 campaign was especially impressive, and he finally managed to claim a win in his pride and joy, d66m11 (a tnt map01 clone).

congratulations, guys. keep faithful to us. :)

As we seem to be handing out compliments here, I think it would also be suitable to thank Dewww, Nero and Cybershark for setting up the tourneys. I'm happy these 3 were the persons to follow up me and Draza. They did a great job on making a new webpage to keep the tourney brackets and other statistics. This was one of the reasons (with of course our lack of time at that moment) to keep the tourneys running and I'm happy we didn't end up like the USA section Smile.

So good job guys and keep it going (hopefully with a NS tourney on ikbrowny+patch once Wink)!

(also one question on the side, perhaps not in the right topic, but since I'm writing anyway; why wasn't TurSKA seeded in the grandslam tourney?)

Thanks for doing that Master Smile

And thankyou Rag for the compliments. It's the other two that do all the work though Laughing
And our unsung hero is Gyross, who's like the 4th member of the team. Things would be a lot tougher without his bracket pages.

But mostly, thanks to all the players!
