i'm sad to hear that, oce. your opinion is highly regarded, because you're a top player. on the other hand, you're being highly destructive in this discussion and you're not helping anyone's cause. your claims are utopian and you present no solution.
also, i hate this thing when people chip quotes out of context. players in these tourneys are free to make an agreement where to play. when they can't make an agreement, they turn to tourney management. tourney management doesn't see 40 or 50ms ping difference as a case to refuse playing a match if there's no possible neutral grounds available. we won't stop the tournament, because someone feels hurt by his geographical or connection disadvantage. it's hugely unfair to everyone else. we will rather continue without you than to create servers in latvia just to find the exact ping equilibrium between you and someone else.
also, this argument started when mortal complained he has a 30ms disadvantage to titan on l@p. mortal is from belgium, titan is from czech republic. anyone trying to say that isn't fair needs to check an atlas immediatelly. it's 100% positive that the ping difference is the matter of mortal's worse internet connection. dear god, why should titan have to play on horizon, where he claims to lag, just to create some artificial ping equilibrium? it's preposterous. neutral grounds most certainly doesn't mean disadvantaging one player to compensate for the crap that is his opponent's internet connection. if this was the case, people playing fluffles would have to use servers in america.
that said - try to calm your rage. i'm not claiming you're not able to spot 30ms difference, even though it's just one game tic. i'm just saying that difference doesn't matter if YOU play let's say ME on horizon. you will probably get a huge packet loss and i have crap reaction time. |

I think it's noob talk to claim ZD was/is/will ever be a professional Esport. How much money has anyone made out of winning a ZD tourney? Are any hardware moguls sponsoring any clan or player? As far as I know the official ZD tournaments have always promoted fun above all else, and the 3rd-party leagues and ladders came to fruition to address the "omgserious" demographic you speak of. There's no good reason to pointedly come after the tourney admins because they're essentially telling players to uphold their match arrangements and not cry as much about ping differentials. |

I hope you realize I'm not actually disagreeing with you ocelot. I just hope you realize there's very little we can do about it. The more even the gound, the better. No-one likes playing uphill. But it's up to the players to decide where to play, and if they can't, the admins should be entitled to take a 'just play here ' kind of approach. |

New admins, when things get too offtopic (not saying this is the case now), you can pm me to clean up the thread, since Im still moderator of this forum section .
But like Cybershark said, let's get the games going again . Im glad to see this section of Zdaemon getting more active again. |

Should I start cleaning up already? . This topic has already 12 pages though you would need like 5 to sign up and post your results all together...
Everybody should adapt to the 'Runkmans-style'. Let the results speak for you!! |
