My friend recently scanned his computer for viruses and whatnot, when he came across a curious thing, he took a picture and I've uploaded it here. I also performed a scan on my zdaemon folder as well. Now then, do you mind explaining why there is a trojan horse in it, going by the name of zslupdt.exe ? Picture of proof is below, and no it is not a fake.

Please explain, because I don't feel comfortable with a trojan horse in the folder where one of my most loved games is.

What would GetWad have to do with it? It's on a seperate file. I'm starting to believe this is the ZDaemon Spyware that I've heard so much about.

Ugh do any of you EVER search before you post? This has been discussed before.

http://forums.zdaemon.org/viewtopic.php?t=10022&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=virus

BTW, a "Generic Trojan" isnt alwayse a Trojan, it just "looks" like a trojan.

That is the updater I wrote for ZSL, it downloads information (to check for new updates), it deletes the old files, downloads the new ones, runs a script, starts and stops processes ect... all of which look very suspicious to AVG which I found out the hard way (it deleted all my beta zips on my webserver).

It's a False Positive. please do a search next time.

One of these days I'm gonna have to try and tinker around with the updater to see if I can get it to not look so suspicious to AVG, only problem is there is no information on the web on AVG's criteria for being flagged as a possible trojan.

Hmm... I've never had anything like that come up under my AVG scans from Zdaemon/ZSL .... Wonder why it would come up under some scans and not on others?

CLEARLY your antiviruses are inferior to Pacey's! Generic4.DPT will kill us all!

Some day, people who post about stuff like this will take the time to think about the parallels between a trojan does and what ZSL's Updater does, and gain a new stage of enlightment. Alas, yesterday was not that day.
