Seriously, why don't you get the ZDooM 2.1.7 source code and get some new ZDaemon about it? It would be better for ACS support and stuff.

We're working on it. Go play SkullTag until it's done.

The reason we don't simply develop a set of ZDaemon routines that can be added into ZDoom code to make it net-worthy is that we'd be saddling ourselves with vast, vast amounts of bugs, many of which took several years to fix, even when the dev team was larger. If we tried going for a new codesplit now, the game would play like Odamex, and all of the features you wanted would be broken.

However, it's not impossible to bring in new code by any means. Right now, Kilgore's working on updating as much of ACS as possible, and with the release of 1.08, ZDaemon got a new version of the sound subsystem, straight from ZDoom's latest. But these things have bugs and take a long time to sort out--the volume of the plasma rifle in 1.08 was messed up, and a new version (1.08.01) had to come out to fix this. ZDoom and its dependencies have about 10 MB of source code; ZDaemon adds on nearly another meg. That's a lot of stuff to fix, to test, and to update.

But, y'know, we're working on it piece by piece, whilst adding spiffy new things like voice taunts. Be not so utterly discouraged!

So no cookie yet. Ok.

It's Ok, until ZDaemon gets even more outdated. But well, it's all ok.

Did you not read what he said? They are working their butts off for us and we get to play it for free. A little more respect and understanding would suit you good here.

Please continue Development Team.

Is it possible to see any exact previews of what has been changed for the next zdaemon, or are we to wait in the dark until it is done? Just curious really.

I believe there is a list out there somewhere that shows the things that are fixed. Kilgore once linked me to it. I forgot the link though.

I do not know if it is completely up to date, but you can find a changelog here:

http://www.zdaemon.org/changes.asp

[Edit]

This one seems to be very old or it has been replaced.

I am pretty confident i have read a changelog a while ago that contained features for future ZDaemon versions.

I have a recent 1.09 changelog with a todo list, but I'd rather Kilgore post it as I'm not sure if he'd like me to.

Here is a recent one. It contains only stuff that's completed; there are at least half a dozen items(and some quite important) that are not listed there because they're still in progress. I'll try to keep it up to date.
