I cannot chat while playing on the net servers. I see the text, hit enter, hear a noise, and nothing.. What's up?

Impossible. If he pressed F8, he wouldn't see or hear messages at all.

Maybe he isnt seeing any but didnt mention it (a topicstart with one senctence oh common...) or he might have a way to high ping to the server which means it takes ages for the messages to get there if they even do without too much packetloss.

ah, see i understood from what he wrote that he meant he was seeing the text as he typed it. buttt yeah, i guess there'd be no DSRADIO bleepy noise if messages were disabled.

just to check Skater, if you run the game locally (offline) and 'talk to yourself' do you see the messages come up then?

another remote possibility might be that your display is stretched to be larger than your monitor size and that the text is appearing just off the top of the screen *shrugs*

Maybe it's my noobish-brain, but lately I've been having this kind of problem as well. I started recording demos for this movie I'm making and text won't show when I play. I also cannot type or anything. I was thinking it might be the server's requirements but then realized later on in the demo I recorded the text all the sudden started showing up during game play. It was like it switched off there for a while then came back on. I didn't mess with options or anything. Question

::edit::
noob-brain. F8

I tried everything, still no luck. Sounds from the game, music, shooting, etc sound fine. No bleep sound. I just see the text i type, then hit enter. I also cannot see others text messages. Probably will re-install Zdaemon.

Thanks for the help all...

You my friend saved me a lot of headache... Yes, idiot here had messages off and toggled F8 and also had the message volume down. (Probably after that night when I was playing FFA up in the bedroom and the XO told me to turn the V down).

I Thank You!

Cool

Cheers.

Nah, the only warship I was ever on to date was the U.S.S. Olympia docked down at Penn's Landing.. The "XO" is from my old CB radio days in the mid to late 70's... (Yes, I am a geek who is into CB's and Ham)

Cheers! Cool
