Over the past 2-3 weeks I have been experiencing problems with the Master server. It seems that I can CONNECT to the Master, but instead of getting the full 400+ Server List to connect to.. I get a small set of 16 L@P servers and that's all that I can connect to via ZLauncher

I have tried using IDE and I still only recieve the same 16 L@P servers.

Here is what it looks like for me after the Master server has fully refreshed
http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/8387/serverlistjr4.jpg

whenever an IP is read off to me I can connect manually and play fine....

I've talked to a few admins about this issue and none of them seem to know the problem. Has anyone ever delt with this problem before or does anyone have any ideas?

It seems that the launcher is suffering large delay when trying to contact the servers. As you can see, the pings even to those few servers is very high. Guessing by what you are saying, in-game ping seems to be ok. It may have something to do with your internet connection.

I've had a similar problem before - in the past for about 1 month all Oblacek servers (or those namely in the Czech Republic) were getting pings of over 200+, when generally it is about 50. All other servers were find, so it must have been a problem with the internet backbone, not allowing traffic to flow directly from the UK to Oblacek.

Have you tried going on websites hosted outside of Germany? By the looks of things, it may be your ISP is fucked up a bit. If you cannot do this either then your ISP is to blame. You should be very angry, and send them a letter telling them how angry you are.

Try lowering the list refresh speed.

It seems like the packet's TTL is lesser than necessary (maybe one of routers on the trace has a blackout), or you could have your firewall wrong configured, or you could have changed max number of simultaneous connections somewhere.

I've tried that and it did not solve the problem:

As for the Germany Server issue... It's not like I'm exactly Just seeing German servers... remember even tho I see the 16 L@P servers. I still can't see the other.. 100 Smile

And I'll look into that simultaneous connections thing, maybe that's the case, and it's set to 16?

This is odd, this is supposed to have been fixed a while ago when the server list seemed to have gotten too big.

I believe it had something to do with how big the data packets were containing the server query information.

This happens to me too, but not early in the morning for some reason. If I don't refresh all servers in a long time, then very little servers get refreshed when I do. (It takes a big chunk of time too.)

Which reminds me, I believe some routers still choke when enough packets are received. I think it can be tweaked - providing you're actually using a router.

Its firewall man, when i joined zdaemon. I only saw like 10 servers, and the rest were blank. I got my dad to unblock it and it worked. Check that... and you better come back >:^/

Sorry, I was away for the week......

Anyways, I have plugged my computer DIRECTLY into the internet (Bypassing the Router) so The router is OUT of the equation. I still only had view of 16 servers.

I had NO Firewall Enabled so that is also out of the equation... what is wrong Sad

Make sure twice - better three times - that you do not have the Windows internal Firewall enabled.
On WinXP SP2 it gets enabled on _every_ network connection by default.

I completely Turned off my Windows XP Firewall, and I Disabled my Avast AntiVirus and I had no luck. I know it's nothing to do with my XP firewall because Puppy has the EXACT same problem, and she's on Windows 98 SE

I think I should just bitch at my ISP for being bastards!

Do some traceroutes to the server IPs turned up by this: http://dumped-archives.ath.cx/zdaemon/list/servs.php

I can connect to the master. I just don't recieve any servers (Other then the 16 L@P servers)

I have tried to figure out what's going on here....
I attempted to join many servers using that link. the ONLY servers I can join through that list are the Maryland servers... All the other ones just give me a "Server is Unreachable" Error..

Yes.

This problem has gotten more complecated...

I attempted to view the servers in Americas Army (The Game)

I found that I could see the first 56 servers.. and it went blank as ZD did. That was when I searched through the Gamespy servers, when I looked at the AA Normal Server list, I saw over 1000.

Also, I only see half the ST server list.

This problem is being very random and I want to know wtf's going on Sad

It sounds like your ISP is doing some selective port blocking.
You really need to do a tracert to the blind servers and see where the problem is.
Just out of curiousity... under "preferences" do you have "Hide Unreachable Servers" checked?
