Since I'm having such success with my raytraced textures, I decided to extend an open invitation.
Anyone who wants me to create a specific kind of texture, just ask.
Give me a reasonable description of how you want it to look, what size it should be, and I'll do several versions for you, so you can pick the one you like best. |

I haven't really tried my hand at sky textures yet. I wish I knew how the rotating sky textures in, for example, Icarus were done. That was cool. |

Can you paint some tech-themed textures based on the shades of the texture "TECWL_1A" from my wad? |

I'll do my best. I have a variey of 2D and 3D tools that I can use, coupled with a program that will make just about anything into a seamless tile. Give me a few days... |

999cop - I'll get on those textures today.
Just to clarift, you want a texture that fits the TECWL_1A but is more grey? Like, the same general shape, and lighter at the bottom than at the top, but different colors?
Or am I out to lunch on that... |

Or am I out to lunch on that... | Perhaps you might have misinterpreted what I meant by "shades", not "shapes". I'd like a new texture with values that are appeared in TECWL_1A. I frankly don't care what it will look like, as long as it is tech-themed. The best out of all of this is you could teach me how to color a texture because I can learn how to create textures with various styles from many places. I just haven't been able to figure out how to paint a texture with certain colors, like this case about TECWL_1A |

Okay, I got you.
Well, with this particular texture it's rather easy, since there's only five or six colors. To make a virtually identical texture, I'd create a 16x128 strip, spray in each of the six or seven colors, and use a noise modifier to move all the pixels around. Add some shadows, use the strip as a brush to paint a full-size texture.
To make a texture using the same basic colors, there's two ways. 1 is you do it from scratch using the colors you want. Two - the easy way: take an existing texture, make sure the color depth is about the same, and simply replace the colors with the ones you want.
Or to do it even more cheezily, you could just cut and paste different sections of TECWL_1A ; for example, making a texture with square plating would be easy, since it's all right there.
Most paint programs have a tool that will select whatever color you click on, and also to replace all instances of a certain color with a replacement color. Then you just go color by color. |

999cop - did that help at all? How easy it is, and exactly how you should do it, depends on what program you use.
If you like, I can provide you with some cut brushes from TECWL_1A, and a few samples. I didn't bother yet, since you are more interested in learning how to do it yourself.
If you don't have a higher end paint program, and you're running windows, allow me to recommend Ultimate Paint. It comes in a trial freeware version, but there is a slightly older version that's freeware. I use it, along with some other utilites.
It's about as powerful as the expensive software, but much easier to use. |

I haven't time or access to try it on my own yet, but if you think you got time or interest in doing it, I wouldn't mind |

I'm on it, 999cop. Sorry if it takes awhile; I've got about 12 projects on the go right about now, but I'm doing a little bit here and there.
I take a long time, but I do get it done eventually... |
