Zdaemon runs at 120Hz but instead I want it to run on 70hz display...

120hz is too dark and 255 brigthness seems like 192 brigthness, and very dark areas are impossible to see. If i change the gamma, things just get more white.

Uh, it's mainly due to your video card settings and such. However, if it works, there shouldn't be much difference. I think there is a brightness slider in the display settings if you looked. I truned that up instead of gamma.

You cannot get brighter without getting whiter.

Your videocard running on a very high refresh rate in Windows doesnt effect the refresh rate in a game.

In fact, i have never ever even heard about refresh rates effecting your brightness, so whatever it is i wonder if you know about it yourself.

Cathode Ray Tube ? Rolling Eyes

Other then that....

Even if i read your very first post, it explains your problem but doesnt ask for any answer.

Anyway, makes perfect sense to me that a CRT monitor has Display settings for Brightness and Contrast too.

Tune those to fit your dooming needs.

{ Once again an aswer that isnt hard to find at all so again im amazed how we really need to think for ppl here and they cant come up with that themselves. }

and this is the first time i heard someone wanting a lower refresh rate... :D

and if the gamma nor the brightness in DOOM does he trick, then i suggest you start playing some less dark maps , because there's nothing else i can think of that'll get those dark areas visible.

Zdaemon refreshes at 35Hz, period. Try checking the color temperature settings on your monitor.

Exactly my point. Smile

No matter what refresh rate , ZDaemon will refresh @ 35 Hz (for now Razz ).

And Refresh Rates changing brightness levels is something ive never heard of either.

So get your stuff straight GhostlyDeath.

As i said... try tuning the brightness/contrast settings on your monitor. Rolling Eyes

if the command gamma 3 is still too dark, then theres something wrong with your monitor brightness.
