At the suggestion of Cybershark, I decided to look in here for some tournament maps. I figured some of the people who look in here/submit maps often would know what maps might work for tournaments. These dont all have to be 1on1 based, but they cant be gigantic. I would be greatly thankful if some of you could compile a list, or even just suggest one, of maps that could be used for tournaments (these should be maps that were submitted in here). Who knows, it could be yours! |

Retaliation of the Elderly is pretty good. Speaking as the author, maps 5 and 3 offer some of the better gameplay of the wad, but you can choose whatever you feel is good if you do like this map pack |

Rest In Peace Deathmatch
map03, it has enough space for a good FFA but can still handle 1 on 1's (wouldn't recommend it for that though) |

hurrah for Bones!
i've not forgotten i promised you a vast list, for now i'll just suggest:
StyxDM
4 really solid maps.
Atormentado
map02
and as it seems to be what the cool kids are doing, my very own Lesion
M2, M3 and M5 are the real highlights i guess. it's for Doom, not Doom2 but Samiam liked M2 enough that a Doom2 version was made (and also one which'd run on shareware) but then the tourneys stopped... bah...
that's plenty of fun for now. don't vote for all your own stuff though guys! |

Oh hey, that's where this thread went.
Anyways I suggest Raisen (raisen8.wad). It doesn't get much better than that. |

ooh, thanks for that Quakey
yeah ok, i have a few others that i hadn't mentioned as i don't consider them quite finished yet but which certainly have their moments.
Raisen is one - which is probably tied with elv for playability. then there's also MuMu, Citalopram and the beta of Lesion2 (7maps - although the first still feels a bit weak and the last is a rework of a map from the first Lesion) - details here (and the latest versions of all can all be found on n00b servers).
coming back to ZDR then Barber1 is another Doom wad (playable on Doom1) which has been greatly overlooked.

You really need to look at some of these maps, much quality.

ahh, ive been searching for a download link to that ever since I got back to ZD I still haven't gotten to play much of it .
I would also recommend them, I have seen alot of them in the editor and they look awesome, (its hard to find a boring one) |

Just to let you all know, I've added all these wads to the list for future months. I'm pretty sure I have April's pick but I have to double check. If not, then the one I picked will be for May. |

Talk to Fury when the sinstyle wad comes out. Some of those maps would make some awesome tourney maps. They're also diverse. Some work for NS, some work for OS, and both. Remember people, sinstyle is going to be complete soon! |

b-bump!
dunno where the tourneys are at atm but i have some fresh suggestions.
Doomination's Flood
[EDIT: oh... he doesn't want it used ]
VincentPrice's Chernobyl
a real oldie by a great guy. never really played it at the time but i've got it up on a server atm and have been loving it.
thread: http://forums.zdaemon.org/viewtopic.php?t=5266
file: http://hosted.getsomewhere.net/~cybershark/wads/chernobyl1.zip
and how about something from Onslaught3 being as we've had Crucified Dreams and Lazarus used? map01 is the one sticks in my mind but there's plenty to chose from in there. don't think anyone needs links to this...

Thanks cybershark, I'm flattered, but I really dont want to see flood in a tourney. Reason being that I dont want it to be worn out by the time it sees crimson. Thanks anyway |

well of course it's on GetWad - it's been used for a tourney before
not sure if it was run in the US though...
and understood Doomy, i'll be taking it off my server soon. |

Probably this wad is good for tournaments:(screens from map01)
If screens are too big I'll remove them. |
