After a discussion that has been going on an external forum, it was decided that the next Freedoom file names will become, as default, the following:

freedoom1.wad (refers to the Phase 1)
freedoom2.wad (refers to the Phase 2)

More details behind the reasoning of the name change here:https://github.com/freedoom/freedoom/commit/89daa45840809fe7c71d58fcbb3f87ecb236ab95 [^]

You should make these file names the default ones recognized by the port.

We do not support different versions of a wad to use the same name. This introduces a lot of problems
like someone hosting freedoom.wad 0.6.4 ... how is GetWAD supposed to find a download link for that specific version?
Thus, we use a different naming scheme on zdaemon: freedoom080 and freedoomu080.
We explicitly add the version number to the IWAD to prevent version clashes.
When someone currently has no commercial IWAD present zdaemon downloads our renamed freedoom 0.7 version.
In the upcoming beta they will fetch the 0.8 version.

EDIT: moving this to rejected since we have our own version dependent naming scheme already.
