Hi,

I'm setting ua CTF tournament called ZDaemon European CTF Tournament (ZECT).

League Overview & Rules:

Quick insight:

Teams will play an opponent randomly determined by a schedule, every week. One game consist of two matches on the weekly map that is played (3 in case of tie) and by the end of week #10 every team has faced each other twice in two different maps.

Every game has to be played on the specific week. If not, it has to happen as soon as possible - TRY to arrange things and not violate this.

Every player must record the game, remind teammates before you play.

Semifinals:

Settled by points, semifinals will be arranged this way: 1st versus 4th, 2nd versus 3rd.

In case of teams having same amount of points, their position will be decided by flag ratio. If this ties aswell, a mutual match have to be played.

Grandfinal:

Classically, the two winners face each other and fights for the league win. sexy. Cool

Mapselection & Indeterminacy Rules for Semi/finals:

A map pool of 5 previously played league maps will be collected, and we will use a map-elimination system to settle the maps. It works like this:

Highest ranked team starts with eliminating a map from the pool.
Lowest ranked team then picks a map from the pool, and eliminates one.
Highest ranked team then picks a map.

In case of tie, the 5th map will be used as tiebreaker. If that ties aswell, a rematch will be played with flag-suddendeath on the tiebreaker map.

This map pool will be published soon.

Server Settings:

DMFlags: Standard NS
Pointlimit: 5
Timelimit: 10 minutes

Points System:

Like mentioned, in case of tie there will be played a third match on the map.

2 maps won + 0 lost = 3 points
1 map won + 1 tied = 3 points
2 maps won + 1 lost = 2 points
1 map won + 2 lost = 1 point
3 maps tied = 1 point
2 maps lost = 0 point

Maplist & Timeline:

This is the affixed maps for every week.

Week #1 : sctf1v_ MAP02
Week #2 : zdectfmp3 MAP19
Week #3 : zdu MAP10
Week #4 : odactf1 MAP04
Week #5 : zdectfmp MAP03
Week #6 : zdctfmp MAP27
Week #7 : ccorectfmp1a MAP01
Week #8 : zdctfmp MAP08
Week #9 : zdectfmp MAP18
Week #10 : zdctfmp MAP26
Week #11 : BREAK
Week #12 : Semifinals
Week #13 : Grandfinal

Screenshots : http://zdeuro.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?p=284&mforum=zdeuro#284

Teams:

Fluffles (C) - Shadowforce, [D]Tobi, [BK]Czegi, Neon

Gvozdevik (C) - [dp]Evolution, wabe, Thomas, Nati46

[QnB]Ronald (C) - [DX]Chain, Konar6, [UBR]Thadeuss, Glaurung

Jarin_cz (C) - Nosturi, Rosebird, Des_Arthes, [SIN]Torment

Devisin (C) - Dopefish, Spirit_Crusader, Ragnarock, Onfire

[dp]TurSKA (C) - dewww, [BK]Bulb, _DaRk_, Marax

Reserve Pool:

Players that has signed up without getting picked will be able to stand reserve for any team, if necessary.
It's unlikely atm as we have 24 players / 6 teams, but in case of further signups BEFORE the draft.

Megasonic - [D]Kazziganger - Darcy - [XXX]Krawa

Trades:

Each team can make 3 player trades throughout the season. That can mean either swapping players in your team into the reserve pool, or swapping players with other teams. After Week10 all trading stops

Rename it. ECDL was my project and I may intend on running a second one myself in the future, with that said, I'd rather you run your OWN league with a different name.

So far I've been pretty much pessimistic about this tourney. Simply because there are not enough active players willing to participate and actually play in Europe.

I won't be hiding my feelings here. Seeing the player list gave me and some others a good laugh. Half of people there I don't expect to give much of a shit. The most ridiculous example is czegi, who said it himself that he doesn't have the time/interest for ZD. Why has he been put on the list, I don't understand.

All recent Euro CTF tourney attempts failed due to organization (administration) issues, or players not giving a damn. Just blank words. I find it annoying:

Sniper tourney http://forums.zdaemon.org/viewtopic.php?t=13202
Thadeuss tourney http://forums.zdaemon.org/viewtopic.php?t=13149
Thadeuss tourney #2 http://forums.zdaemon.org/viewtopic.php?t=13385
Gyrossman tourney http://jakub.machata.cz/zdaemon/wleague/players.html

And the more tourneys end like this, the less hope remains in my mind for any future attemps without having solid and stable non-tourney activity in Europe first. Not talking about IRC activity now. Smile

Now, while it may sound like all I do is just shit on the tourney (and some people may be considering murdering me now), in fact I do actually support it, by
  • signing up
  • helping SwiftShot with discussing technical aspects
  • I'll gladly provide a server if needed

So to end with an optimistic spirit - let's make this happen, be it to prove my expectations wrong this time! Twisted Evil

After a uhh, dramatic draft teams are following:

HnH - Hook Nosed Hermits
~ Fluffles - ShadowForce - Tobi - Czegi - Neon

JK - Jerk Knights
~ Gvozdevik - Evolution - wabe - Chillsing - Nati46

RR - Raging Rabbits
~ Ronald - Chaindude - Konar6 - Thadeuss - Glugz

44 - Top 44
~ Jarin - Nosturi - Rosebird - Desolator - Torment

TLR - The Last Resort
~ Devisin - Dopefish - Spirit_Crusader - Ragnarok - OnFire

PPP - Pearly Penile Papules
~ turSKA - dewww - Bulb - DaRk - Marax

A slight change was made so that teams consist of 5 players now, instead of having a large reserve pool.

Good luck, keep in touch and organize your games!

A slightly dramatic draft night, but hey, we had some fun too!

I hope that the people who ragequitted or cried because their team doesn't look like they'd have wished will reconsider their behaviour so we can get the ball rolling flawlessly.

Some interesting predictions can be seen on the Euro forums.
