Yes, but you should try to make your map standout from the rest of the brown maps out there Razz

Just FYI, because of the incomplete map structure, I doubt many editors other than Doombuilder will even be able to load these wads. I can work around that by importing the THINGS data into another wad, but still, it's a pain in the ass.

Edit: Oh this is gonna be good... Twisted Evil

Well I'm just thinking of the fact that... You ain't allowed to move things, but what if you use scrolling floors and teleports to move items around? :p
Boom allows it, so... Cool

The b map look like someone has just placed random objects in a rectangle. The player starts have random orientation with no respect to weapon placement. This is going to be really hard. Very Happy

Yeah, I mean, the way some of these things are placed, I can't see a great 1on1 map coming out of these. They are too inconsistent and although weapon balance is nice to have, sometimes it's too much balance using every weapon available. But, I suppose that is the challenge of this contest so perhaps someone will fuck up somewhere and accidentally produce a brilliant map!

Take it easy young man, I didn't "ruin" anything like you seem to believe. Someone with such advanced knowledge of Doom mapping, as Worst, would have clearly stated in the rules that item warping would be strictly forbidden. However, the rules state that "You might not change any Deathmatch starts, weapons, pickups".

Warping them is actually allowed if I read this correctly.
Not only that, in case you thought you were the only one to think about that kind of stuff, then you are not the only one to make Boom format levels. I didn't ruin anything at all, what I certainly did ruin was your hope to use that glitch privately, didn't I? Did you yell at the person who found the Silent-BFG trick because it ruined the whole charging sound of the BFG before firing?
I guess you didn't unless you're of a super-complaining nature, but I don't know you so I won't go into that.

Otherwise , then please Worst; or someone else managing the competition, write down warping items is forbidden.

Okay, quick question:

So for Base-A maps, it states you are not allowed to modify, move or change weapons as well as deathmatch starts (although we're given consent to change their directions). So what I'm gathering out of this is that we're allowed to add all things except weapons and deathmatch starts, correct?

'Warping items' should not even have been an issue. The deal as stated was that you couldn't move items. Having them jump through teleports would most definitely be doing that.

But that doesn't mean the players can't hop all over the maps! Razz

Okay one more question and this one probably applies to the more experienced mappers:

I use WadAuthor (yes I've been outdated for the 4 years) and I can build around the items, but when I go to save and open it, it comes up with an error and doesn't allow me to open it via zlauncher or editor anymore. When I went to open the .bak after converting it to .wad, everything i built on was erased. Needless to say, I was pissed. Anyway, EQ mentioned he couldn't do it in DeepSea either, so what way can I do it and still use WA or do I have to get with the times on this one and use DB? :\
