When I play Doom (registered) games and attempt to exit a level, I get this console error.
What does it mean? |

it would be easier to help if you would give exact instructions on how to
reproduce this behaviour.
you play vanilla doom.wad or with a pwad on top?
online or offline?
does it happen on every level exit? |

I remember getting something like this when I was working on PWADs for Doom.
IIRC the problem was when I'd only half-crafted a MAPINFO for the map and so a lot of values - such as what sky and music to use - would be left blank. Doom would get to the intermission and go looking for the map name to display on the inter-screen. In Doom.wad these are graphics named WILVxy, where x=episode-1 and y=map-1. So the default graphic to show at the end of E1M1 is WILV00.
What was happening was that somewhere it was starting out with values of zero, it'd try to deduct one from that and end up looking for a lump with that name and so you'd get:
W_GetNumForName: WIMAP-1 not found!
This wasn't actually such a big deal on a server as it'd carry on past the error. Although on 'newer' versions of ZD it now just seems to crash altogether? |

Just offline doom.wad with nothing on top, yes. Settings don't seem to matter as far as I can tell. Happens on every level exit. I basically have to IDCLEVxx my way to the next level to get it to work, and I obviously don't want to start E3M6 off with a shotgun...
And yes, I don't remember this being a problem a while back, but I haven't actually tried to play normal Doom in a long time.
Could I have a bad IWAD? |

Try updating your doom.wad IWAD with the iwad patcher if its not
at 1.9 ultimate doom yet. |

It says I can't use it on 64-bit Windows.

Yeah, that's a bad IWAD right there.
I was getting confused earlier because WIMINUS is just that, a graphic that shows a minus sign. But the thing is, if you're playing on Zdaemon then I don't think that is ever even used because Zdaemon has its own scoreboard between matches, rather than the Doom2/Zdoom way of displaying map statistics.
But either way then yes, WIMINUS should definitely be in Doom1, Doom or Doom2 WADs. Maybe you accidentally deleted it if you were editing? Not sure something like that will be patchable, although if you're only playing offline then you could just copy that graphic from one of the other complete IWADs. |

I definitely don't do any WAD editing myself.
Guess I'll have to go "scout around" for another one. |
