Drop everything! Alfred's back!
Right so just because we'd usually have a co-op sesh slotted in here doesn't mean we have to do so. And just because this one has already been run once doesn't mean we can't do that again either
Anyways, technically we haven't done this before as the GrotesqueCTF we ran back on ZDS #26 was an older version. This one is quite improved and doesn't deserve to be forgotten about.
Can't find any pics around so what to say about this pack? The maps aim to look more realistic than a lot of Doom maps out there - so it's not all tech bases + castles like 90% of CTF packs out there. The gameplay is often much more interesting and non-linear also.
Game Mode: CTF
WADs: grotectfr
tskins1a
plus whatever vox sounds good
Maps: 15 (01-15)
DMFLAGS: 16803012/131081
Players: 10 (5on5 + 2 spectator slots)
Other stuff: NM skill, 2 teams, 5 flags, 10 mins on the clock.
Date: Saturday 4th April 2009
Time: 7:30pm UK Time / 9:00 pm EST
Locations: L@P / [TotalTrash]/Unfy
Give Brit10 and ZDCTF a break for the evening - you know you want to |

It seems like getwad downloads a different version from dogsoft, than what is linked here, preventing many players from joining the server. (you know, people who dont bother looking for a correct version, which is a lot of players :p ) |

Should be all fixed i didn't know there was a "better" version out there..

It did yes. I've played for awhile. Until I got stuck in a very foggy cave and couldn't be arsed finding my way in there. |

Hey, even I didn't bother searching for a 'correct' version! But then I didn't have time to by the time I'd realised there was something up there.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.
And y'know, BAD ALFRED for having more than one version!
I was curious about the way it refused to run though. Y'know how normally Zdaemon loads up and it gives you the whole 'incorrect version' message? Well this time it didn't even get that far - an error message popped up in Windows saying that the WAD was wrong and that I shouldn't even try patching it. Had never seen that before and I was curious why it should take such exception to it...

I got in an hour late due to a family trip, but yeah US session was pretty good. Had a lot of epic run throughs of the maps when I got on. Definitely the highlight of my dreary day, this blasted cold makes it hard to do anything but moap around on the compzor all day long. I hardly got a single slice of my b-day pie.
Anyway, I'll likely end up redoing some of the maps and re-releasing this wad as something else, due to all the versions already out, not a promise, just thinking aloud... |

Very nice! This is one of my favorite CTF packs out there, too bad I haven't been able to play it more often since there isn't a permanent US host out there.
Great session, want to see a new version of Grotesque coming out soon. |
